This week our company held an event celebrating the Independence Days of Singapore, India, and Indonesia. Last Tuesday, we enjoyed Kaya Toast buns from PappaRoti to represent Singapore, crispy samosas and pakoras from BC Momo for India, and an Indonesian spread from Bali Thai featuring mie goreng (stir-fried egg noodles), bakwan jagung (crispy corn fritters), and sate ayam (grilled chicken skewers with peanut sauce).

I enjoyed the buns so much during the team event that we decided to head over to PappaRoti (193 Keefer Pl Unit 103, Vancouver, BC V6B 6C1) for dinner tonight!
Savoury Quiche & Sweet Coffee Buns
This time around, we decided to try their savoury options alongside dessert. I selected the Broccoli and Cheddar Quiche ($8.50) while my husband went for the Ham and Cheddar Quiche ($8.50).
Of the two quiches, the ham and cheddar was definitely the better pick because the ham flavour really pops! With the broccoli quiche, you get a pronounced egg flavour; it is creamy and soft, but broccoli does not have a particularly strong flavour on its own, so it kind of gets lost in the dish.

Naturally, we could not leave without getting a signature coffee bun! My husband picked the Pistachio Lover ($10.00). The Pistachio Lover is delicious, topped with chopped pistachios, pistachio cream, and drizzled chocolate over that excellent signature crispy bun. However, the Crazy for Kaya bun from last Tuesday is right up my alley, and it remains my favourite!
