Smooch Food: A Love Letter to Every Bite

About Smooch Food

I moved to Canada before my 26th birthday, and while I thought I knew what home felt like, Vancouver redefined it for me. Since 2018, I have been documenting my journey through this city’s incredible food scene—turning personal memories into a permanent resource for fellow food lovers. I live here with my husband, while my parents and siblings are just a short trip away in Richmond.

Vancouver is my happy place. I am constantly inspired by the diversity here and the ability to try unique cuisine prepared by people who brought their culture and stories across the world. From the golden autumn leaves to the first spring blossoms, I’ve found that the best way to honor this city is to document the local businesses that make our community vibrant.

Why Smooch Food?

The word Smooch means to kiss or cuddle. I created this blog to provide a dedicated space for meals that deserve a "chef’s kiss." Unlike the fleeting nature of social media, Smooch Food is a searchable archive of high-utility guides. Whether you are looking for the exact price of a ramen bowl or the best hidden gem in the Lower Mainland, I believe in creating a permanent record that helps both diners and local owners thrive.

The Daily Rhythm: Data + Heart

My life follows a hybrid work schedule that keeps me connected to the city's pulse. On Mondays and Fridays, I work from home. From Tuesday to Thursday, I head into Downtown Vancouver. These commutes are my chance to find new smooch-worthy coffee shops and lunch spots in real-time.

For every review I write, I follow two core principles:

  • The Heart: The sentimental story. I want every bite to tell a story—my story—in relation to the cuisine and the culture behind it.
  • The Data: The practical proof. Whether I am documenting BC Place menus during a Whitecaps match or a hidden gem in Burnaby, I keep pricing, menu items, and "insider" details front and center.

Documenting the Experience

From hunting for authentic Filipino flavors to tracking the best snacks at Cineplex, I am here to share the joy of food. By combining years of personal "checklists" with original photography, I aim to provide the most honest and useful dining perspective in Metro Vancouver.
