K Cafe Vancouver Review: Comforting Bibimbab and Ramyun in a Hidden Gem

Happy Friday! I survived. After a stressful week, I took Thursday and Friday as personal leave to recover. I needed to have some labs done, so I headed to LifeLabs first thing this morning.

After fasting for 15 hours, all I wanted was a comforting, healthy meal at a spot we had not tried yet. We walked to the corner and finally ended up at K Cafe. We have been wanting to try this place forever, but they are usually closed on Sundays, which makes it a bit harder to time a visit.

I really wanted the ramyun because Korean ramen is a major weakness of mine. However, I knew I should choose the healthier option of bibimbab. Thankfully, my husband is wonderful; he ordered the ramyun so I could still have a bite!

My Bibimbab ($11.95) was beautiful. It arrived with thinly sliced beef, mushrooms, carrots, bean sprouts, greens, and cucumber on top of a bed of rice. It was served with gochujang on the side so I could control the heat. The Filipino in me was so happy; I just really needed that rice.

I happily slurped a bit of the Korean noodles and a spoonful of the savoury broth from the ramen. It was so comforting, but I was ultimately happy with my choice.

I truly hope more people support K Cafe. It is clearly a mom-and-pop shop run by two people working hard to keep up with orders. With its mismatched furniture and "living room" vibe, it feels incredibly special. I hope we can visit again many times before they retire.
