Au Pied de Cochon CDMX Breakfast Review: Comfort Food in Polanco

🇫🇷 Breakfast in Polanco: Au Pied de Cochon

Location: Au Pied de Cochon (Inside the InterContinental Presidente)
What I Intended: Chamomile tea, plain toast, hard-boiled egg, and ham (Tummy-friendly comfort food)
The Surprise Twist: A modified order of soft scrambled eggs with ham, fresh avocado, and refried beans.

I have to be completely honest and overshare a little bit: my stomach was feeling a bit weird and unsettled overnight. After yesterday's epic culinary adventures, this morning called for some gentle, warm comfort food. Because of that, I had to heavily modify my breakfast plans at the absolutely stunning and elegant Au Pied de Cochon.

To ease my tummy into the day, I started with a soothing hot chamomile tea alongside some plain toast. The bread basket here is truly delightful—perfectly toasted and warm on the outside, while remaining incredibly soft and fluffy on the inside. A little bit of good butter was exactly what the doctor ordered.

Tummy-soothing essentials: warm, crusty bread, butter, and hot chamomile tea.

When it came to the main plate, there was a bit of a mistake or a slight miscommunication with the kitchen. I had originally hoped for a simple hard-boiled egg and ham, but instead, they brought out a version of the Dos Huevos Rancheros Con Frijoles y Queso Panela from their "De la Granja" section, modified as scrambled eggs with ham (Huevo Revuelto con Jamón), served alongside fresh sliced avocado and refried beans.

Honestly? It turned out to be a happy accident. I ate the soft scrambled eggs very slowly and enjoyed a little bit of the rich avocado, though I decided to skip the refried beans to keep things light. The eggs were executed so beautifully and tasted excellent, exactly the kind of mild, nourishing protein I needed right at that moment.

The accidental favorite: perfectly soft scrambled eggs with ham, avocado, and sides.

In fact, I caught myself thinking this might actually be the best breakfast I've had at the InterContinental so far! Granted, that could just be down to how incredibly soothing it felt for my specific cravings today, but a well-cooked egg is truly hard to beat.

With a happily warmed stomach and plenty of energy back, we are officially packing up and getting ready for an amazing day of exploring. Up next on the itinerary: a tour of the historic Frida Kahlo Museum (The Blue House) and a boat ride through the ancient canals of Xochimilco! Stay tuned for the next update!
