A&W Smash Burger Review: Is the New $6 Single Patty Worth It?

✨ At a Glance: Quick Facts

📍 Location: A&W Canada
🍔 Ordered: Single Smash Burger ($6.00)
⭐ Smooch Verdict: A fun, budget-friendly menu experiment, but it doesn't quite beat the originals. While the price point is great, the texture missing that iconic, deeply caramelized lacy edge means we will happily stick to their classic, nostalgic burger line-up next time.

Happy Tuesday! I have a confession to make: I am completely addicted to A&W lately. They just keep sending us those irresistible mailer coupons, and honestly, who am I to say no to a great fast-food deal?

That said, the real reason for our little fast-food excursion this evening was to finally try their much-talked-about Smash Burger. It was my very first time ordering one, and as Hubby correctly pointed out while we unboxed our meal, we don't actually have a baseline comparison for what truly makes a "perfect" smash burger. We were going into this tasting completely fresh!

Fresh out of the wrapper: The $6.00 Single Smash Burger from A&W.

At a reasonable $6.00 for a single patty, it is definitely an affordable little treat. It comes served on a wonderfully soft, glossy bun with melted cheese, a signature sauce, and a crisp slice of fresh onion peeking out from underneath the meat.

However, when comparing it directly against A&W's existing burger family, I think I will comfortably stick to their traditional non-smash versions in the future (at least in A&W).

It was a fun taste test for a cozy Thursday evening, but the nostalgic charm and juicy texture of their classic line-up still hold the crown for me. Have any of you tried this new menu addition yet?
