Mount Everest Kitchen & Bar: A Soulful Indian Dinner in Kitsilano

🏔️ A Soulful Supper: Mount Everest Kitchen & Bar

It was a solemn Ash Wednesday, and after attending Mass, hubby and I set out for dinner with our dear 89-year-old friend. After going back and forth on where to settle, he suggested Mount Everest Kitchen & Bar. They’ve recently opened a beautiful new location in the heart of Kitsilano at York Avenue and Yew Street, and it felt like the perfect place to gather.

Our friend had visited just a few nights prior, and the wonderful staff remembered him immediately. Their kind hospitality shone through as they treated us to complementary carrot ginger soup on the house. To God be the glory for the gift of friendship and such warm welcomes!

Practical Bites & Prices

This was the one meal where I truly lacked any sort of control or worry about my diet or health. I haven't eaten this much food in about two months, but every savoury, rich bite was a joy. Here is our documentation:

  • Vegetable Pakora ($4.50 Happy Hour): A crunchy mix of cauliflower, potatoes, onions, spinach, and carrot. Slightly oily and extremely delicious.

  • Fish Pakora ($7.50 Happy Hour): Succulent basa fish marinated with organic spices. A decadent way to begin.

  • Palak Paneer ($18.50): My favourite go-to! Hubby and I shared a cup of rice to enjoy this soft cottage cheese in a fresh spinach puree. It was comfort in a bowl.

  • Fish Tikka ($18.99): This was tender basa on a sizzling plate. The subtle mountain spices were lovely, but the natural sweetness of the fish was the real star.

We rounded out the feast with fragrant garlic naan and a warm cup of masala tea.

A Heart Full of Gratitude

To say that I ate too much is an understatement—I haven't enjoyed this much food in nearly two months! But the wonderful company of our friend made every smooch-worthy bite even better. It was a beautiful reminder that while I am on a healthy journey, some nights are meant for celebrating life and friendship. I left feeling satisfied and deeply blessed.
