Small Victory Bakery Review: Best Scones and Treats in Vancouver

The ultimate treat spread at Small Victory on 6th and Yukon.

Since I fasted overnight for my visit to LifeLabs, all I wanted afterwards was a bit of sugar. I really didn't want to head straight home, especially since I had been holed up inside all day yesterday.

We walked over to Small Victory at their 6th Ave and Yukon location for some treats. I, of course, ordered my usual unsweetened matcha latte, while hubby went for the mocha. Both were excellent, but let’s be honest: you really come here for the baked goods, both sweet and savoury.

Hubby chose a scone, I went for the chicken roll, and at the very last minute, I couldn't resist adding the pistachio croissant doughnut to our tray.

The Savoury: Chicken Roll

I’m not sure why I was expecting it to look like a traditional sausage roll with chicken filling, but what I actually got was a beautifully flaky roll filled with seasoned ground chicken. It was fantastic.

The Surprise: The Best Scone in Vancouver

I’ll admit, I’m a bit of a scone snob. So many Vancouver coffee shops serve them stale, dry, and generally terrible. My perspective changed entirely after visiting London, and then I was shocked to find an even better scone in Dublin!

This scone from Small Victory was amazing. Perhaps it’s my fault for not visiting a proper bakery for my scone fix earlier. Thank you, SV, for serving the best scone I have tried in Vancouver so far—it was perfectly moist and delicious.

The Indulgence: Pistachio Croissant Doughnut

Last, the pistachio croissant doughnut was pure indulgence. It’s obvious that they are either grinding the pistachios themselves for the filling and topping or they have an incredible source. It was so good!

I felt a tiny bit of guilt for diving into this, and yet, I was so happy. I finally feel alive again.

If you're in the Mount Pleasant area and need a pick-me-up, Small Victory is definitely a win.
