Milano Coffee Vancouver Review: Mocha Taste Test & Best Lunch Bites

☕ Mini Friday Escape: Milano Coffee

📍 Location: Milano Coffee (156 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver)
☕ Drinks Ordered: Killer Mocha ($6.50) & Hedgehog Mocha ($6.50)
🥪 Food Ordered: Veggie Egg Bites, Roasted Chicken Sandwich, & Italian Job Sandwich

Happy Friday! I had a doctor's appointment this morning, and before heading back home to continue working, I decided to take an early lunch break. Hubby and I quickly stopped by Milano Coffee on 156 West 8th Avenue, and it was such a delightful midday treat.

It is such a charming coffee shop nestled right in front of a beautiful, tree-lined street. They even have a patio that overlooks a local park, giving you a gorgeous view of the mountains in the background. It is the perfect little spot to pause and decompress.

We decided to order their Killer Mocha ($6.50) and Hedgehog Mocha ($6.50), which led to the most amusing little taste test. Hubby took a sip of the Killer Mocha first and thought it tasted quite sweet. But then, he took a sip of the Hedgehog Mocha and realized that one is on a completely different level of sweetness!

I told him the Killer Mocha is meant to be more bitter, and sure enough, when he switched back to it, it suddenly tasted way more bitter to him simply because the Hedgehog is just *that* much sweeter. It was so funny how our taste buds trick us! If you are trying to choose between the two, let that be your guide: go Hedgehog if you want pure sweetness, or Killer if you prefer a deeper cocoa bite.

To go with our drinks, we ordered a nice little mix of food: veggie egg bites, a roasted chicken sandwich, and the Italian Job sandwich.

They were all genuinely great, but those Veggie Egg Bites are on another level. Packed with sundried tomatoes, spinach, and salty feta, they are worth every single calorie, and I am absolutely coming back just to order them again.

The Roasted Chicken Sandwich is perfect for a proper midday meal since it is much larger and more filling, though I did find it doesn’t work quite as well when paired with a sweet mocha.

On the other hand, the Italian Job Sandwich is much smaller than the chicken sandwich, and its toasted English muffin base paired absolutely perfectly with our rich coffee choices.

Overall, it was just the perfect little Friday interlude to recharge our batteries before heading back to our screens to wrap up the work week. It's those little moments that really make the weekend feel so close!
