Safeway is back at Oakridge, and I finally went for a wander. It's huge. I didn't buy anything this time. I just walked around with my phone out and snapped every menu board I could find, so you can see what's on offer (and what it costs) before you go.

Where to Find the Ready-to-Eat Food at Safeway Oakridge Park
The new Safeway opened on August 27, 2026, at 650 W 41st Ave, and it's the first time the brand has been back on this site since the old store closed in January 2020. It's tucked underground and you get to it from Oakridge Park's south atrium.
The Time Out website mentioned dim sum and buffet-style dishes. I didn't spot those on this walk-through, so I'll update the post once I find them. Here's everything I did see.
Zenshi Handcrafted Sushi Counter
The Zenshi counter says "Made Fresh Daily" right on the screen. The menu starts with a light Summer Roll (2 pieces, $8.49) and climbs all the way to the generous Happy Heart Platter ($21.49).
For a budget lunch, the crunchy Crunchy Roll with imitation crab ($11.99) and the golden Crunchy Shrimp Tempura Roll ($12.49) are the most affordable 10-piece rolls. If you want something heartier, the fresh Big Wave Poke Bowl ($16.99) is on the menu too. Anything with an asterisk contains raw seafood, so keep that in mind.

Zenshi Hot Foods: Chinese Food Combos
Right beside the sushi, Zenshi also runs a hot foods counter with build-your-own Chinese food combos. There's a sign on the counter saying the Chinese foods are served from 11:00am to 7:00pm, so don't show up for a late-night stir-fry.
The screen shows photos of the entrées rather than names, so I'll add the full lineup once I try them. The pricing is easy to follow, though. You pick your saucy entrées, add a steamed rice, fried rice or noodle base, and choose your size. The two-item combo ($14.99) is even labelled "Most Loved" on the board, which makes it my first pick to test.

Safeway Hot Value Meals ("Ready for You")
Over on the Safeway side, the "Ready for You" screens are all about comfort food. The Hot Value Meals board is where the wallet-friendly options live. Every meal comes with your choice of hot side, and the most affordable is the soft Pulled Chicken Burger Meal at $5.99. If you want something crispy, the golden Chicken Strip Meal starts at $5.99 for 2 pieces, and the classic Crispy Chicken Meal starts at $6.99.

This is the one for hungry families. For $19.99, you pick one protein: a hearty full rack of ribs, a savoury roasted chicken, or a 9 piece crispy chicken (add $1). Flavoured or RWA chicken is also an option for an extra $1. Then you choose two sides from Reser's sides (340 to 397 g), Compliments Salad (426 to 454 g) or large potato wedges (500 g). It also comes with a pack of soft King's Hawaiian rolls (4 pack, 113 g).
There's a $1.49 drink add-on too, with Coca-Cola products and smartwater shown on the screen. The fine print says it's subject to availability and no substitutions, so read the board in store before you order.
Sandwich Combo
This one's marked NEW. Buy any freshly prepared kitchen sandwich and add a cold Monster, NOS or Reign energy drink (444 to 473 mL) for $1.99. The sandwich in the photo looks like a stacked, crusty sub with sliced deli meat and fresh veggies, though I don't have the sandwich lineup or prices yet.
Traditional Crust Pizza
The pizza screen promises pizza cooked to order in 15 minutes while you shop, ready to eat or take home. Every flavour is $4.49 a slice, and a whole 14 inch pizza (4 slices) is $12.99 for the classics or $13.99 for the loaded ones.
Here's a little math for you: four slices of bubbly cheese or juicy pepperoni would cost $17.96, but the whole 14 inch pizza is $12.99. If you're sharing, the whole pie saves you almost $5.

Starbucks Inside Safeway Oakridge Park
There's also a Starbucks inside the store with the standard menu, so you can grab a warm latte to go with your groceries. Nothing unique to see here, but it's handy.
What's Next
This was a scouting mission, so I'm coming back hungry. Top of my list is the "Most Loved" two-item combo at Zenshi, a crispy Chicken Strip Meal, and a fresh pepperoni slice straight from the oven. I'll update this guide with honest reviews, photos and any new boards I find (hello, dim sum).
