Happy Saturday! This is dangerous. I'm craving restaurant food but lazy to do anything, and I think delivery is expensive. It's dangerous that we have Mr. Sushi so close that I don't mind wearing a hoodie and even slippers to grab a quick dinner.
A quick dinner means two special rolls, veggie yakisoba, and assorted tempura.
The Special Rolls: Cheetos vs. Mike's
The last time we were at Mr. Sushi I grabbed the first (Taylor's) and last (Karl's) special roll on the list. This time I got number 2 and 3: Cheetos ($11.75) and Mike's ($12).
Of the first three rolls priced under $12, Mike's is the one I'll order again.
- Mike's Roll: It’s similar to Taylor's but without the heaviness. It's also a deep-fried roll with cream cheese, but the tuna roll is lighter.

| Mike’s Roll ($12). This was the winner of the night. It’s deep-fried with cream cheese like the Taylor roll, but uses tuna to keep it feeling lighter. |
- Cheetos Roll: This is a spicy tuna roll topped with crispy yam flakes. The yam flakes look like shredded Cheetos, but it's not as spicy as you'd think.
|
| The Cheetos Roll ($11.75). Those yam flakes really do like shredded Cheetos, but the flavor is much more subtle than the name suggests. |
The Sides
|
| Assorted tempura—the ultimate "snacky" side for a lazy dinner. |
Assorted tempura is just fun when you're feeling snacky.
Lastly, when I told hubby I want yakisoba, he said we don't order yakisoba from sushi spots (or really ever) so I thought he doesn't want me to get it. But I have a craving for noodles, so I got noodles! It's good, a bit bland, but I'm happy to try it with protein next time.

| The Veggie Yakisoba. A bit bland on its own, but it definitely satisfied my Saturday night noodle craving. |
