Happy Sunday! Today is a celebration because Hubby officially finished the BMO Vancouver half-marathon. Running this race has become an annual tradition for him on the first Sunday of May, and I love being there to cheer him on.

Of course, we have another sacred annual tradition to uphold: a massive carbo-load immediately after he crosses the finish line. This year, we initially had our hearts set on grabbing pizza. However, once we saw the menu at Onda by Casereccio, their incredible list of fresh pastas and loaded sandwiches proved simply too hard to resist.

Hubby immediately went for the Spaghetti Meatballs ($26.95) to get his much-needed fix of carbs and protein. Naturally, he gave me a bite—okay, if I am being completely honest, it was definitely more than just a single bite! The rich tomato sauce was comforting and reminded me quite a bit of our favourite go-to jarred brand from Costco, but the real standouts of the dish were the incredibly plump, juicy meatballs.

Meanwhile, I decided on the Crudo Panini ($14.95). Honestly, I was not expecting the sheer size of it when it arrived at our table. It was absolutely massive and easily large enough to share! I can confidently say that this house-made focaccia is the absolute best I have ever had in Vancouver. Because it spends some time on the panini press, the outside gets remarkably crispy, while the inside manages to stay perfectly soft, light, and airy. The premium prosciutto crudo inside brings a beautiful saltiness that is balanced out wonderfully by a generous handful of peppery fresh arugula.

Overall, I am incredibly happy we stumbled in here, and we will definitely be heading back soon just to sample more of their panini lineup.
