Happy Friday! We finally made it to the weekend. It has been a wonderfully busy but incredibly long week of hosting our lovely colleague who flew into town all the way from Australia. If you missed our itinerary of food adventures around town, you can check out my previous post here.
By the time Friday evening rolled around, I was completely exhausted. I realized I had been intensely craving momos all week long, so I looked over at my husband and asked if we could please have a comforting dinner at BC Momo. As always, he was more than happy to indulge my cravings, so off we went for a much needed date night!
If you remember my initial BC Momo review, you know I love their steamed options. This time, we decided to branch out and try their Buff Platter Momo ($24), choosing water buffalo as our protein. It is honestly such a fantastic deal for the sheer volume of food. The platter comes divided into three distinct styles: deep fry (crispy, golden brown dumplings), chilly (deep fried momos sauteed with garlic, ginger, onions, and peppers), and tandoori (semi fried, marinated in house special sauce, and baked in the tandoor oven).

After trying all three varieties, I completely understand why they grouped them together on a sampler platter. While they are certainly good and incredibly fun to try, they are not quite the best options on the menu. In my opinion, the afgani style and even the classic steamed momos are so much better because the textures feel more balanced. Still, it was a wonderful taste test, and I am definitely eyeing the jhol momo for my next visit!
To balance out the meal, we also ordered the Shrimp Chowmein ($16), which features comforting Hakka style noodles. The dish comes tossed with plenty of heat, and I absolutely loved the distinct contrast between the spicy, savoury noodles and the naturally sweet, juicy shrimp mixed throughout.

As a last minute impulse decision right before finalizing our order, we tacked on a side of their Fish Pakora ($13). This dish features delicate pieces of basa fish marinated with carom seeds and warm aromatic spices, dipped in a chickpea flour batter, and deep fried to a beautiful crisp finish. It is an absolutely perfect snacking dish, light enough to enjoy between bites of heavy noodles and momos.

Overall, it was exactly the kind of satisfying, heavy meal I needed to shed the fatigue of a demanding week. BC Momo remains high on our rotation list, and I honestly can't wait to come back here again soon.
