Finally! I have been on the go since 6:00 am because I needed to attend the second day of my Mental Health First Aid training, and then head over to the office to ship two boxes of goodies to our team locations in Cork and Melbourne. On top of that, I managed to wrap up some essential work and turned things over to my direct reports and my manager. By the time I finished at 5:00 pm, I was absolutely exhausted and completely wiped.
When you are that tired, only comfort food will do. We decided we needed a hearty rice dish for dinner, especially to ground us before any big travel. Yes, the exciting news is that I am flying out to Mexico City tomorrow with my husband for a few days of much needed R&R! To fuel up, we stopped by Ebi Ten on Robson.
Of course, I ended up ordering the most sinful thing on the menu (and my absolute favourite): the Double Meat Curry ($18.95). It was worth every single calorie, sodium, and saturated fat gram! You can immediately tell they use a rich, beef based curry sauce because the colour is much darker than a typical chicken based curry. While the pork cutlet was not the juiciest I have ever had, it was still very good. The beef slices were a tiny bit too sweet for my personal taste, but they were still wonderful once they were thoroughly covered in that rich sauce. I happily finished the entire plate, and it is honestly so comforting to know that I have such an excellent beef based curry available so close to my office.

Hubby went with the Mega Bowl ($16.98), which is a slightly healthier option. It comes loaded with savoury teriyaki chicken, prawn tempura, minced pork with tofu, and a fresh salad served over rice. Honestly, it was incredibly delicious.

To share, we could not resist trying their Takabomb. This is their take on takoyaki, but covered in a crispy, crunchy karaage-style breading. It is absolutely brilliant, and I completely understand why they make it this way. Because takoyaki is naturally so soft and tender on the inside, adding this particular coating gives the bite that perfect, satisfying push of crunchiness to create a lovely contrast in texture.

Now, it is time to head home, double-check our packing, and get some rest. Next stop, Mexico City!
