Guffo Cafe Vancouver Review: Trying the Trendy Spiral Nutella Croissant

☕ Late-Night Sweet Spots: Guffo Cafe

📍 Location: Guffo Cafe (Robson Street area)
🥐 On the Menu: Pistachio Cream Puff & Spiral Nutella Croissant ($9.99 each)
🎁 The Verdict: Mixed pastry reviews, but 10/10 for free stickers!

After burning our tongues on that delightfully fiery mapo tofu down the street, Hubby and I needed a sweet palate cleanser to wrap up our spontaneous Canada Day date night. As we walked, we spotted a coffee shop that looked completely fresh and new to the neighbourhood: Guffo Cafe. Naturally, we had to pop in and see what their pastry case had to offer.

We ended up treating ourselves to two beautifully presentation-forward treats: the Pistachio Cream Puff ($9.99) and the Spiral Nutella Croissant ($9.99).

The cream puff was my personal favourite of the night. It completely lived up to expectations—the pastry texture was spot on, and the luscious cream filling was wonderfully balanced. I especially loved the chocolate coating dipped in crushed pistachios along the edge; it added a fantastic little crunch that elevated the whole dessert.

Hubby, on the other hand, immediately gravitated toward the spiral croissant—mostly because it was generously filled with Nutella! While he happily devoured his pick, it wasn't quite a home run for me. The rolled spiral shape was stunning, but the pastry itself felt a bit stale, which seems to be a common trait with these tightly compressed, trendy circular bakes.

Even with the mixed review on the croissant texture, we will absolutely be heading back to Guffo Cafe in the future. Why? Because they hand out the cutest free stickers with your order! Honestly, a little fun branding and a great cream puff go a long way in making a new spot feel welcome.
