Happy Friday! Today is a work-from-home day, but hubby and I decided to break away from our usual morning routine. We headed out early for a quick walk to our local Tim Hortons, hoping to catch a fresh batch of the highly anticipated Harry Potter x Tim Hortons collaboration donuts and Timbits.

I should start by saying that I absolutely adore the Harry Potter series. I have gathered my fair share of books, movies, and merchandise over the years. In fact, one of my favourite days ever was spent exploring Warner Bros. Studio Tour London: sipping iced butterbeer, walking through the iconic Great Hall, and spotting Aragog in the dark Forbidden Forest. Naturally, when I heard Tim Hortons was bringing a touch of Hogwarts magic to Canadian coffee breaks, I had to try it all!

The Hogwarts House Donuts: Aesthetic & Flavour Breakdown

The collaboration features a signature donut for each Hogwarts house: Strawberry Cheesecake for Gryffindor, Blueberry for Ravenclaw, Lemon Meringue for Hufflepuff, and Chocolate Pistachio for Slytherin.

Design-wise, whoever planned these treats at Tims must have a slight grievance against Gryffindor! While Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff show off deep, vibrant house colours, Gryffindor gets a plain white icing base with light pink sprinkles. It feels a bit understated compared to the rest. Aesthetics aside, here is how each one tasted:

1. Ravenclaw (Blueberry)

The Ravenclaw donut is finished with a rich blue glaze and blue sprinkles. Inside, it is filled with a blueberry jelly center. Unfortunately, the berry flavour felt quite artificial to me, making it my least favourite of the bunch. I likely won't be reordering this one.

2. Hufflepuff (Lemon Meringue)

The bright yellow Hufflepuff donut looks cheerful, but the lemon flavour is extremely subtle. You only catch a slight hint of tartness when you hit the yellow filling. Bites without filling taste like a standard glazed donut with yellow icing.

3. Gryffindor (Strawberry Cheesecake)

Despite the simple presentation, the Gryffindor donut pleasantly surprised me. The strawberry cheesecake filling tastes noticeably better and more natural than the Ravenclaw blueberry center, striking a nice balance between sweet and creamy.

4. Slytherin (Chocolate Pistachio) - The Winner!

Hands down, Slytherin takes the crown for both appearance and flavor! The combination of pistachio glaze and rich chocolate filling is executed surprisingly well. It tasted like a premium specialty pastry you might order at an artisan coffee shop. If you only pick up one house donut, make it this one!

Golden Snitch Timbits Container & Merchandise

Beside the house donuts, the real star of the show for me is the Golden Snitch Timbits container. It comes filled with special Golden Snitch Timbits: glazed bite-sized donuts dusted with shimmering golden sprinkles and filled with sweet caramel.

It is such a fun, delightful treat, and the best part is getting to keep the Golden Snitch sphere as a souvenir for my desk! I also attempted to purchase the special wand drink stirrer, but it was already sold out at our location and they refunded my order. I might just have to drop by a few more Tim Hortons locations nearby until I track one down!
