Filipino Food in Metro Vancouver

I grew up in the Philippines, and I have been supporting Filipino-owned businesses and entrepreneurs since the pandemic, so I thought of making a list of places I have tried so you can support them too.

List of Filipino Restaurants and Food Entrepreneurs in Metro Vancouver

I will do my best to group the list as well.

Restaurants

These are the places I have been to physically or have ordered for delivery that has a physical store/food truck.

Delivery

These are Facebook pages that I have ordered from for delivery. I thought of dividing this list further depending on what they sell: savoury dishes (ulam) or sweets and snacks.

Savoury Dishes

Here is a list of Facebook pages that offer savoury dishes (ulam).

Sweet Dishes

Here is a list of Facebook pages that offer Filipino desserts and snacks.

How to add your business to this list?

Since the pandemic, we can only support restaurants and entrepreneurs who can deliver to our place near South Granville in Vancouver, and we only order on Saturday. Send me a message on Facebook with your menu so I can order and support your business. Kain Tayo!

Food Daddy Persian Cuisine at Thank Granville It's Food trucks (TGIF)

The South Granville Business Improvement Association (SGBIA) organized Thank Granville It's Food Trucks (TGIF). Every Friday and Saturday from 11 in the morning until 8 in the evening from June through Labour Day, there will be a rotating lineup of food trucks located along West 10th Avenue at Fir Street in front of the Vancouver School Board building. Happy Saturday! I am going to let you in on a little secret. I started dieting again, and do you have any idea how hard it is to diet when you love good, delicious food? That's why the number of posts has slowed down this August because preparing meals at home would allow me to control portions and ingredients. That said, it's my goal to try as many food trucks as I could that's part of TGIF. Yesterday, they announced on Instagram that a new food truck is going to be participating today. Hence, we had lunch from Food Daddy Persian Cuisine. Food Daddy Persian Cuisine We ordered Food Daddy Plate, which means we get

Week 3 of HelloFresh

This is the third week that a HelloFresh Box arrived at our home. I went a little crazy and ordered five different dishes. Zucchini and Lemon Linguine with Basil Pesto and Goat Cheese HelloFresh Description: We love zucchini all year long here at HelloFresh, and this dish combines some of our favourite flavours. Sweet snap peas, zucchini and basil pesto combine in this delicious linguine pasta! A little squeeze of lemon at the end brings the whole dish together! My favourite part of this dish is the pesto and goat cheese combination. After enjoying this for dinner, I told hubby we could totally make this again! Chicken Tikka Masala with Peppers and Garlic Rice HelloFresh Description: Bold tikka masala and creamy coconut milk coat tender chicken and

Buko Pie and Egg Pie from Ruby

I was craving buko (coconut) pie that I miss from the Philippines. I decided to ask the Facebook Food group I'm part of for recommendation, and the first person to send me a message and picture is Ruby Dacanay. Buko Pie in Vancouver from Ruby The buko pie is delicious! It's more buko than sugary filling, which I love. The crust is flaky, and it just crumbles. Buko Pie I sliced the buko pie. My skills need some work. Look at the layers of coconut. Egg Pie in Vancouver The egg pie is not overly sweet, creamy, and delicious. Egg Pie Egg Pie Egg Pie slice I can't wait to bring this to Richmond tomorrow. Be sure to send Ruby Dacanay a message on Facebook to order a buko and egg pie.

My Birthday Celebration: Filipino Food from Tasty Pinoy BBQ Skewers at iba pa

It's my birthday weekend. We went to my parent's place in Richmond, BC, to celebrate. Don't worry, we didn't invite people to the celebration - it's just seven people and two households. The first household is my husband and me, and the second household is my parents and three siblings. I asked my mom to cook spaghetti for my birthday, and I thought of ordering from LA Chicken. Spaghetti and fried chicken is like a staple in Filipino birthday children's party. However, I became lazy and didn't want to line up and order from LA Chicken. Feast from Tasty Pinoy BBQ Skewers at Iba pa To go with my mom's spaghetti, I ordered lumpiang shanghai (Filipino-style spring rolls), pork BBQ in skewers, kwek-kwek, and kare-kare. Lunch at Pho 37

It's a busy Saturday for hubby and me (and my beautiful parents, who helped us with our errands today). We decided (just a week ago) to send a balikbayan box  to my in-laws in the Philippines. It's our first time doing such a thing, and we have no idea what to get and how to do it, but we chugged along. We started the day in Costco, where we purchased many things we think they're going to enjoy - a personal favourite is the box of 40 (10 pieces of 4 different hot chocolates!). Of course, we also got the usual like Spam, body soap, toothbrush, and toothpaste. Then, we head to Superstore. I shopped for our food for the week since I am not getting HelloFresh delivery this week. Hubby also got tea and chips (limited edition Pringles and ketchup flavour chips), which we can include in the box. Before heading to lunch, we stopped by Manila Cargo Express to buy a balikbayan box and ask about the process of sending a package and its costs. Then, we drove all the way to Ironwood for

Ilocos Norte Empanada and Longganisa in Vancouver

Food and writing have become my escape and a happy place. I decided to join a Facebook Group "Filipino Food Vancouver" to discover more vendors of Filipino cuisine and support kababayan here in Metro Vancouver. If you check my last few posts, it's mostly Filipino cuisine in Vancouver. It's like an obsession to support fellow Filipino during a pandemic. For this week, I discovered that a Facebook Page is selling Ilocos Norte Empanada and Longganisa in Vancouver. After a week of figuring out schedule and logistics, here we are enjoying our Empanada. Ilocos Norte Empanada Inside Ilocos Norte Empanada are shredded green papaya, munggo beans, egg, and the key-ingredient their homemade Ilocos Longganisa. I have been craving this for a really long time. The timing is also perfect. My friend who planned our trip to Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur recently passed away. I'll always remember her when eating this dish. It arrived still hot. The e
