Our weekly office competition brings excitement to the team. The winner chooses the theme for our team lunch, and this past Thursday, the prize was pie. It felt like the perfect choice for a busy week. We also used the meal to welcome our newest team member before her official start date on March 31.
A Warm Welcome Over Meat Pies
The team gathered around the table to share a meal and get to know our new colleague. Sharing a hot meal like this feels comforting. It turned a regular Thursday into a moment for everyone. We ordered delivery from the West End location of Peaked Pies, and the food arrived hot and ready for us.
The Smooch Food Review: Steak & Mushroom
I chose the Steak and Mushroom pie for my lunch. Peaked Pies really knows how to handle these traditional Australian recipes.
- The Order: Steak and Mushroom Pie.
- The Price: $14.38 via Uber Eats delivery.
- The One Adjective Reaction: Earthy.
The incredibly flaky crust shattered at the first touch of my fork. Inside, I found tender steak in large, satisfying chunks. The mushrooms added a deep, earthy flavour that paired perfectly with the rich, smooth gravy. I always eat my pie plain. While many people peak their pies with mash and peas, I prefer to focus on the golden pastry and the quality of the meat.

A Long History of Savoury Favourites
This lunch was far from my first time enjoying Peaked Pies. It has actually become a bit of a tradition. This past Pi Day on March 14, I visited their West Broadway location for a savoury holiday twist. I tried the Steak and Guinness pie, which offered a robust flavour, and the salty Steak Bacon and Cheese pie.
I first wrote about Peaked Pies in 2023 when a colleague from Melbourne introduced us to them. Since then, I have enjoyed everything from their large, buttery Anzac biscuits to their sweet and coconut covered Lamingtons. I even remember air-frying their frozen pies at home during our busy move at the end of 2025. Whether it is a quick office lunch or a cozy dinner at home, they always deliver high quality.
