It was Tuesday morning, which meant my first day back in the office for the week. Honestly, I was in absolutely no mood to cook breakfast. On my walk Downtown, I decided to pull up the Too Good To Go app to see if I could find a morning treat.
I spotted that Giovane Caffé (in the Deloitte building lobby) and Artigiano (inside Telus Garden) both had surprise bags available. Of course, stressed little me decided to grab both!

| Breakfast at my desk: Cornetti Marmellata from Giovane Caffé |
Stop 1: Giovane Caffé (Deloitte Building)
For $5.24 including tax, I rescued two Cornetti Marmellata. These usually go for $6.00 each, so the value was definitely there! Since they were frozen, I had to search for the best way to reheat them.
Pro Tip: Microwaving them for 20 seconds while covered in a wet paper towel did the trick. I enjoyed mine at my desk with a French vanilla coffee from the office machine. It was the perfect start to a busy day.

| The Artigiano haul: A ham and cheese baguette and a chocolate croissant ready for reheating. |
Stop 2: Artigiano (Telus Garden)
I actually ordered this one first, but I did not notice that their pick-up window does not start until 9:00 am. Since I start work then, I could not grab it right away. I ended up picking it up during my lunch break and saved it for the next day.
This bag cost $8.39 and included a Ham and Cheese Baguette (regularly $13.95) and a Chocolate Croissant ($6.50). We turned the baguette into a full breakfast the next morning by popping it in the oven and pairing it with some scrambled eggs. It was such a good deal for a shared meal with my husband! We also saved the chocolate croissant as a little after-dinner treat later that night.
Smooch Food Scorecard: Downtown Breakfast Edition
- 🥐 Giovane Caffé: $5.24 for 2 Cornetti (Great value and usually available!)
- ☕ Artigiano: $8.39 for a Baguette and Croissant (Rare find, grab it fast!)
- ⭐ Value Rating: 5/5 for both!
- 💡 Smooch Food Tip: Always check the pick-up times before you buy!
It is always a toss-up to see which items you are going to get. Artigiano is rarely available and you need to be quick to claim a bag. Giovane almost always has a bag or two available in the app, which is great if you want something sweet for the next day.
