Happy sunny, beautiful Spring Saturday from Vancouver! We ended up waking up quite late this morning because we stayed up way too late binge-watching the Chinese drama The Double (it is so addictive!). For our very first meal of the day, we crawled out of bed and walked over to Elysian Coffee Roasters at their lovely corner location on 7th Ave and Ontario.

The comforting Breakfast Sandwich ($9.00) served on a pillowy brioche bun.
I started things off with their Breakfast Sandwich ($9.00). Layered with fluffy egg, savoury ham, melted cheese, and fresh greens between a perfectly toasted brioche bun, it was incredibly comforting and exactly what I needed to wake up. I paired it with an unsweetened matcha latte ($6.25) with oat milk (+$0.75). It was a standard, solid coffee shop version, though if you are a true matcha lover, a slightly better version is available just two blocks north at Blaze Cafe!

Our morning caffeine fix: The standard Oat Milk Matcha ($7.00) and the sweet Spring specialty Double Baked Matcha ($7.90).
Hubby ordered their Grilled Cheese ($8.75), which arrived at the table piping hot with beautifully melted, stringy cheese. To drink, he treated himself to their spring specialty drink: the Double Baked Matcha ($7.90). It is noticeably sweeter than my standard matcha because it is crafted with a toasted almond syrup, and it comes beautifully finished with a dusting of 100% pure raspberry powder sprinkled on top. It is unique, fruity, and very festive for spring!

Piping hot, buttery, and golden crisp: Hubby's Grilled Cheese ($8.75).
After polishing off our main breakfast dishes and successfully publishing a couple of new blog posts, the cozy atmosphere made me crave a little sweet treat. I went back to the counter and picked up their Almond Blueberry Muffin ($4.25), and oh my goodness, it was incredible! It was absolutely bursting with fresh blueberries that popped with flavour in every single bite, and the sugary, crunchy top was pure perfection.

The star pastry: The Almond Blueberry Muffin ($4.25) with its signature sugary crust.
Not wanting to be left out of round two, Hubby asked for their Cheese Scone ($5.25). I am always a little cautious with coffee shop scones, but this one was not nearly as dry as I feared it might be. While Small Victory still holds the crown for the absolute best scones in Vancouver, this one was decent and packed a very assertive, punchy green onion flavour that savoury pastry lovers would really enjoy.

And just like that, yay! We ended up staying here for a full three hours, happily finishing up blog posts while Hubby powered through some of his work. It is such a bright, productive space to spend a weekend morning.
