We were celebrating my sister's birthday, and when asked where she wanted to eat, she chose OZ Korean Restaurant in Richmond. It is such a fantastic spot for a celebratory feast, but walking in with a big appetite is always a dangerous game.

Of course, my total lack of self-control completely won out the moment I looked at the menu, and I ended up ordering the massive Chicken Platter ($67.00) for the table to share. It arrived with an incredible variety of fried chicken. One section was their classic, ultra-crisp golden fried chicken with no sauce, while the other three sections were tossed in distinct, vibrant sauces: sweet chilli, a snowy cheese powder, and padak. They were all fantastic, but the spicy padak, with its beautiful heat, was easily the best flavour of the bunch.

As if that wasn't enough food, Hubby and I also shared the Assorted Katsu Platter ($32.00). It is a meat-lover's dream, featuring an array of flaky fried fish, juicy pork (both sirloin and tenderloin cuts), and a spectacularly crunchy chicken katsu. Every single piece was coated in a airy, shattering panko crumb. While the pork was wonderfully tender, the chicken katsu was the absolute standout for us because it retained the perfect level of juiciness under that crispy jacket.

To anchor the entire meal, I also tacked on the OZ Bibimbab ($16.00) because I firmly believe you need a good balance of fluffy rice and wholesome vegetables to ground all that heavy fried goodness. It was absolutely delicious, topped with a gorgeous fried egg and fresh greens, adding a lovely contrast to the feast.

In true family fashion, we absolutely ordered way too much food, but having a fridge full of delicious leftovers is never a bad thing. Happy birthday to my wonderful sister!
