⭐ Smooch Verdict: A reliable saving grace for an exhausting day. The Phnom Penh noodles offer a clean, comforting warmth, and the spring rolls are an absolute crispy triumph. Skip the beef stew here and head a block south instead if you want a deeper, more aromatic broth.

It was one of those incredibly long, draining days. After handling a medical appointment over near Metrotown and then immediately powering through six hours of straight work, I felt completely like crap. The last thing I wanted to do was stand over a hot stove and cook at home. When I'm exhausted, a big bowl of noodles is one of the best answers. That is exactly how we ended up at Pho Georgia Express.

Hubby decided to order the Phnom Penh Style Noodle ($18.90), which features their comforting, pork-based broth. This dish is actually part of their special Featured Menu, crafted with care in small batches daily and exclusively available for a limited time for dine-in customers. It is a wonderfully clean, soul-warming clear broth that comes generously loaded with tender pork slices, rich liver, plump shrimps, and bouncy fish cake. The addition of crisp shredded cabbage and bright green onion added a lovely freshness that made the whole bowl feel balanced and wholesome.

I was craving something a bit richer and heavier, so I went for the Beef Stew Noodle Soup ($18.90). While the broth itself was pleasant, it lacked that deeply robust, intensely aromatic beef stew flavour I was looking for. It certainly checks the boxes for what makes a classic beef stew (it comes with thick, hearty chunks of beef and sweet, tender carrots) but the depth just wasn't quite there. If you are specifically hunting for a bolder, more fragrant version, the bowl just a single block south on Robson at Delicious PhแปŸ is definitely better.

Thankfully, their side dishes never disappoint, and the pork spring rolls were completely up to par. They arrived at the table with a spectacularly golden, shattering crisp exterior that gave way to a deeply savoury, perfectly seasoned filling. It was the exact crunch we needed to perk up our spirits. (You can grab a half order of these deep-fried spring rolls for $4.80, or a full order for $9.50).
