The ultimate Monday recovery spread. Quiet, simple, and exactly what we needed.

Happy Monday. Sort of. I was in the emergency room last night and didn't get home until 2:00 am. I am absolutely exhausted and still in quite a lot of pain.

For breakfast, I didn't even want to think, so we headed out in our jammies to the nearby Swiss Bakery. They are an unusual spot because they are open 8:00 am–5:00 pm, like an office. Since I took the day off to recover, I finally had the chance to visit on a weekday.

Nourishing Comfort: Soup and Bagels

Since I’m not feeling 100%, I needed something nourishing. Their tomato basil soup was the soup of the day, and it sounded like the perfect way to warm up. I paired it with their breakfast bagel on an all-dressed bagel with egg and cheddar—simple, warm, and exactly what I needed.

The breakfast bagel ($4.70). Simple, warm, and comforting.

Of course, I had my usual unsweetened matcha latte with oat milk. It is my standard go-to, and Swiss Bakery delivered exactly what you’d expect from a Vancouver coffee shop.

The Tomato Basil Soup. Warm, bright, and perfect for when you’re not 100%.

The Hubby’s Choice: The Bacon Breakfast Sandwich

Hubby went for the more indulgent Bacon Breakfast Sandwich. This thing is loaded: egg, black forest ham, bacon, tomatoes, and spinach with cheddar and jalapeño butter, all served on their signature pretzel bun. He paired his with a large mocha.

The $9.80 Bacon Breakfast Sandwich. It’s a lot, but Hubby confirms the jalapeño butter and pretzel bun combo is sinful.

It was a quiet, much-needed breakfast date to start a long recovery. If you're looking for the specifics on the menu, I've listed the prices and options below.
