⭐ Smooch Verdict: The ultimate stress-eating sanctuary. When life gets incredibly heavy and you need a judgment-free zone packed with melty cheese, salty cured meats, and life-changing truffle dip, Ignite's stone-baked crust completely delivers.

Have you ever had one of those weeks where the workplace stress settles deep into your shoulders, and the only known cure comfort food? That was me tonight. Facing down an incredibly difficult, emotionally draining professional task tomorrow, I looked at my husband after work and told him I need pizza.

He immediately put his foot down on delivery, knowing a little fresh air would do me good, so we walked over to East Broadway hoping to snag a table at AJ's Pizza. Unsurprisingly, they were absolutely packed. Before I could even open my mouth to ask the host about the wait time, hubby whispered that if it was anything more than a ten-minute wait, we were going elsewhere. Pizza Pizza was sitting just a few doors away looking tempting for a quick second, but we needed something else tonight.

Enter Ignite Pizzeria at their lovely Mount Pleasant location. Now, I know what you’re thinking... wasn't I just at Ignite's Yaletown location last Thursday? Yes, yes I was! But honestly, coming here with my husband where I can order absolutely everything I'm craving without an ounce of fear or judgment is a blessing.

I went for their wonderfully sinful "Meet" Lovers Pizza (and yes, that is spelled Meet, not meat!). When you are craving rich meat fat and savoury cured meats, this pie hits the absolute spot. Every bite was a flavourful, comforting escape from reality.

Hubby took my strong recommendation and went for the Mediterranean Prawn Pesto Pizza. It acts as the perfect, lighter counter-balance to the heavy meats. If you want something bright and refreshing, the combination of plump, juicy shrimp paired with a rich, aromatic drizzle of basil pesto over their signature crispy crust is an absolute home run.

Because no stress-eating session is truly complete without a side carbohydrate, we also ordered their Garlic Cheese Bread to share. Oh my goodness, it is unbelievably good. It comes paired with a luxurious, earthy truffle aioli that completely steals the show. Honestly, I would willingly walk all the way back to Mount Pleasant just to dip things into that aioli again.

We left with full bellies and slightly lighter hearts, already discussing our next trip back. While waiting, we noticed they keep a gorgeous display case fully stocked with individual pizza slices—there were 12 completely unique varieties on display this evening! I playfully told hubby we should order exactly one slice of each next time to do an epic, ultimate Smooch Food ranking. Since 12 slices of pizza is admittedly a bit aggressive for just the two of us, we’ll definitely have to bring my siblings along as reinforcement next time!

For future reference, here is the running list of pizzas I’ve tried from them so far:
