Happy Saturday! After spending a wonderful, relaxing afternoon hanging out and sipping drinks at Gene Cafe, the gorgeous sunshine enticed us to keep walking. We made our way down to the Great Northern Way (GNW) location of Steve's Poké Bar for an early dinner.
Hubby decided to go with a classic and ordered Steve's Traditional Bowl Mini ($22.30). Do not let the "mini" designation fool you, because this bowl is absolute perfection for a purist. It comes generously loaded with four scoops of premium poke, featuring two scoops of savoury Shoyu Ahi and two scoops of Spicy Ahi. It is served on a beautifully hot bed of rice and finished with furikake seasoning, green onions, sesame seeds, and a drizzle of Steve’s signature Shoyu sauce.

| The purist's dream: Steve's Traditional Bowl. |
For my dinner, I selected the second item on the signature menu, aptly named Shoyu A Good Time ($19.00). I love playing with textures, so I requested a mix of white rice and fresh salad greens as my base. This beautiful bowl features two scoops of tender Shoyu Ahi Tuna, furikake seasoning, sweet corn, edamame, imitation crab, wakame seaweed salad, pickled ginger, and sesame seeds, all brought together by Steve’s Shoyu sauce.
The overall flavour profile is a wonderful balance of sweet and savoury notes. To make it even better, I opted to add fresh avocado to my bowl. It brought an extra hit of rich creaminess that complemented the bright, crunchy vegetables and marinated tuna beautifully.
