| The Vibe: | Cozy, dark, and romantic date-night interior, balanced with a lovely outdoor patio. |
Happy Thursday! Around here, Thursday means a company-paid team lunch, and the theme for this week was Greek. We lucked out with a beautiful, sunny summer day, so we took a lovely walk over to The Greek in Yaletown. While the interior has that gorgeous, cozy, dark, and intimate date-night energy, they also have a fantastic patio that is just perfect for soaking up the afternoon sunshine.
As much as I indulged in a comforting mocha this morning during my quiet reset at Lovelarte, I am still staying very mindful of my long-term health goals. With that in mind, I decided to keep my lunch simple, clean, and incredibly nourishing by ordering a warm bowl of Avgolemono ($13.00), which is easily my favourite.
|
| A comforting bowl of Avgolemono soup: clean, tart, and completely delicious. |
As a Filipino, there is something so familiar and nostalgic about this dish: the beautiful, sharp tartness of the lemon broth instantly reminds me of a classic, home-cooked sinigang. It is packed with shredded chicken and rice, and it comes served with soft pita bread right on the side. To add a bit more clean protein to the table, I also ordered a single Chicken Skewer ($10.00).
|
| Perfecting the details: this grilled chicken skewer was incredibly tender. |
Let me tell you, that chicken was spectacularly tender and perfectly cooked. My only regret? I seriously wished I had ordered a few more skewers because they were that good!
