I don't hang out with my parents often enough, so when they visit my side of Vancouver, I make it a priority to bring them somewhere special. Today, I decided to introduce them to C Market Coffee along Main Street, Vancouver's biggest coffee shop. This is my third time visiting, and I still remember being here on opening day.

Verdict: A delightful spot to share time with family. The croissant steals the show with its perfect texture and pistachio cream.
My parents ordered their usual Americanos while my sister and I decided to indulge in a couple of their signature desserts. We went with the luxurious Dubai Chocolate Croissant and the Ultimate Chocolate Nemo Cake, splitting both so we could taste everything. I also got their K-Ube Latte to sip throughout our visit.
Let me start with the drink. Their K-Ube Latte ($7) is purple and beautifully presented with latte art, but here's my honest take: it tastes like purple steamed milk. As someone who's familiar with ube flavour, I can tell this doesn't quite capture the essence of what makes ube special. I haven't really found an ube drink anywhere that makes me say "wow, that actually tastes like ube." This one is no exception, though the presentation is lovely.

Now, the Dubai Chocolate Croissant ($10.50) is where things get really good. My mum and I shared this, and it's exactly what you'd expect from a properly executed croissant: airy, buttery, and delicate. But the real magic is in the kataifi pastry layer with its creamy pistachio filling. It's not overly sweet, and the contrast between the crispy kataifi and the soft croissant interior is just perfect. The textures work beautifully together, and I found myself going back for more bites.

My sister and dad shared the Ultimate Chocolate Nemo Cake ($8), which is a showstopper. This is a decadent, layered chocolate dessert with rich chocolate mousse, glossy ganache, and chocolate shards on top. It's for serious chocolate lovers.

C Market Coffee is one of Vancouver's most impressive coffee shops, and being here with my parents made the visit even more special. There's something about sharing a space like this with family, where everyone can find something they enjoy while savouring good coffee and good company. I'm so grateful for the chance to bring my parents to places like this and spend quality time together on my side of the city.
