Price: most meals about $8 to $20, with snacks and drinks from under $2
Verdict: Dumpling King is my top spot, and the Thai Away Home all-you-can-eat is hard to beat on Monday to Thursday. With so many booths and such good prices, this food court is easy to recommend.
There are some places in Vancouver that feel like a small village tucked inside the big city, and City Square Shopping Centre is one of them. Sitting on the northwest corner of Cambie Street and West 12th Avenue (555 West 12th Avenue), right across from Vancouver City Hall, this cozy mall blends charming heritage buildings with modern spaces. It first opened in 1989, and it is a lovely example of old school buildings being given a second life. It is also an easy walk from the Broadway-City Hall Canada Line station, with underground parking if the weather is not cooperating.
If you have never explored it, here is the quick lay of the land. City Square has two floors. The Lower Shops is where you will find the food court, which is the reason we are all here today. Head up to the Upper Shops and you will find a warm, welcoming cup at Cultured Coffee, perfect for a slow caffeine break after lunch.
Finding the food court is easy. If you are coming in from the Cambie Street side, the food court is the first thing you will spot. If you are arriving by the Ash Street entrance, look for Fresh Slice just outside the food court, where a hot, cheesy slice of pizza is ready whenever the craving hits. Whichever way you walk in, you are never far from something good to eat.
So grab a tray, bring your appetite, and come along as we go through the City Square food court, one booth at a time, with menus, prices and my honest thoughts on each stop.

I ordered the Southwest Steak & Avocado Signature Grilled Rice Wrap, and the steak, avocado, vegetables and sauce were delicious. The only downer was the rice, which was hard and grainy. 📖 My Past Visit to Subway (July 2024)
My husband and I tried every item on the new Footlong Sidekicks and Dippers menu. The Footlong Cookie and the Pepperoni and Cheese dipper were the winners, while the churro was a hard pass. The pretzel was stale until a quick trip through the air fryer saved it.

We walked to the Club Kitchen location on Expo Boulevard for a team lunch, and I chose Combo for 1 with chicken green curry and eggplant. It came with a spring roll, green salad, hot and sour broth and jasmine rice. I finished everything and highly recommend that green curry sauce.

📖 My Past Visit to Dumpling King (October 2026)
After the croissant crawl, we stopped here for a late lunch. The xiao long bao and plump wontons were the stars, and the ginger-forward soup dumplings balanced the pork richness beautifully. The noodle soup broth was a bit bland, so next time I would order the wontons on their own.

Kojima Ramen (City Square Food Court)
Kojima Ramen is one of the easiest booths to miss, tucked away behind the escalators going up. It serves ramen and Japanese rice bowls, including a vegan tan tan ramen, with a three-step combo set. Here is the full menu with prices as posted on my visit.

Honestly, I never knew there were so many options hiding in the City Square food court. From dumplings, pho and Persian kebabs to ramen, takoyaki and a classic burger, there is something here for just about every craving, and the prices are excellent too. A few of the booths are tucked away behind the escalators, so they are easy to miss, and I almost walked right past them myself. If you are in the neighbourhood near Cambie and 12th, this one is well worth a lunch stop.
