Giovane Caffè Vancouver Review: Ham & Cheese Croissant

✨ At a Glance: Quick Facts

📍 Location: Giovane Caffè (Vancouver, BC)
🍽️ Ordered: Oat Milk Matcha Latte, Ham & Cheese Croissant
⭐ Smooch Verdict: Convenient for downtown office workers, but generally overpriced for standard coffee shop fare. The warmed ham and cheese croissant is decent, though execution can be a bit hit-or-miss.

Happy Thursday. Kinda. I woke up feeling incredibly lightheaded today and found myself moving in slow motion all morning because the dizziness just wouldn't quit. Of course, duty called, so I headed into the office anyway. But after sitting through a quick meeting with our Cork team the second I arrived, I knew I needed to get some food in me immediately.

I ran downstairs to Giovane Caffè. If you've been following along for a while, you probably know I generally avoid this spot because I find them a bit overpriced and not particularly mind-blowing. Today, though, utility won out over preference. I just needed some calories and sugar fast to help settle the dizziness. I ordered my usual unsweetened matcha latte with oat milk, which was perfectly standard coffee shop fare.

A comforting oat milk matcha latte to help clear the morning brain fog.

To go with it, I also grabbed a warmed-up Ham & Cheese Croissant. I think they left it in the oven a touch too long since the outer edges were browning a bit too much, but it did the trick. Interestingly, this is actually the very first savoury pastry I have tried from this location, even though I've already sampled almost all of their lunch sandwiches and wraps!

The Ham & Cheese Croissant—decent flavor, though it spent a minute too long in the warming oven.

Since it's right downstairs from the office, I've ended up eating my way through a significant portion of their menu over the years. For future reference (and yours!), here is a running diary of everything I've reviewed so far:
