Cadeaux Bakery Brings Filipino Flavours to the Vancouver Croissant Crawl: Turon, Longganisa & Taho Latte

Turon is my favourite Filipino snack. Crispy caramelized brown sugar wrapper, sweet banana inside, it's the kind of treat that instantly feels like home. So seeing this icon show up as part of the Vancouver Croissant Crawl, thanks to Cadeaux Bakery, genuinely made me feel seen. And they didn't stop there. They also built a Taho Latte and, outside of the crawl menu entirely, a Longganisa Sausage Croissant. Cadeaux is leaning hard into Filipino flavours this year, and I am so here for it.

For anyone less familiar with these flavours: turon is a Filipino dessert, saba banana rolled in a spring roll wrapper, coated in caramelized brown sugar, and fried until the skin turns crisp and glassy. Longganisa is a sweet and savoury Filipino sausage, usually pork, often garlicky with a touch of sugar, and a breakfast staple typically served with garlic fried rice and egg. Taho is a warm street snack made of silken tofu, brown sugar syrup (arnibal), and chewy tapioca pearls, traditionally sold by vendors walking the streets in the early morning. We love taho so much we had a vendor serve it at our wedding so no guest would go hangry!

Banana Turon Croissant ($8.50)

This one captures the essence of turon almost perfectly. The top is finished with crispy, caramelized brown sugar that shatters a bit like a turon wrapper, and the inside is filled with soft, mushed banana. The croissant base itself is flaky, buttery and airy, which was likely helped by the fact that we arrived within the hour of opening on a gorgeous Saturday morning.

That said, if you want the true classic version, I'd still point you to Pamilya Delights on Main Street and 11th for the real thing.

Taho Latte ($6.25, 12 oz)

This one is unusual in the best way. It's bitter up top since it's coffee-based, but then you hit the silken tofu, the real star of a taho, suspended through the drink, with sweet brown sugar settled at the bottom. It's a genuinely unique sip, and now I need the classic version too.

Longganisa Sausage Croissant ($6.25)

Outside of the official crawl menu, Cadeaux also has this one, and once again, I felt so seen. Sweet, savoury longganisa tucked inside a flaky, buttery croissant, sesame seeds scattered on top. Now I'm curious what brand of sausage they're using, because I'd happily eat this one with garlic rice and a fried egg too.

Mocha ($5.95, 12 oz)

A classic mocha, rich and chocolatey, rounded out our order.

Cadeaux Bakery leaning into Filipino flavours this hard is such a treat, and honestly one of my favourite Croissant Crawl stops so far. Have you tried turon, taho or longganisa before? Let me know in the comments, I'd love to hear your favourite version!
