| The Verdict: | Dante wins on fillings, but Pressato takes the crown with superior, airy focaccia. |
Happy Thursday evening, friends! I managed a rare win for dinner tonight and actually left the office before 7:00 PM. Having that extra bit of time meant my husband and I had more than enough daylight to visit a couple of spots on Robson Street. I have actually tried both of these places on separate occasions during our company team lunches, but since my husband hadn't experienced them yet, I knew we had to come back together for a proper showdown between Pressato Sandwich Bar and Dante Italian Sandwich.
If you haven't been to this little stretch, there are only a couple of other food stalls nestled between the two, namely Ebi Ten and Pelicana Chicken. But tonight, we were entirely focused on staging an epic, head-to-head Italian sandwich battle.
To try and keep the playing field as consistent and fair as possible, we aimed for very similar flavour profiles from both spots. At Pressato, I ordered the Torino ($17.75), which comes loaded with prosciutto, stracciatella, truffle oil, and fresh arugula. Over at Dante Italian Sandwich, we went for the Italiana ($18.00), featuring a double hit of meat with both prosciutto crudo and prosciutto cotto, stracciatella cheese, a truffle spread, and arugula.

| Dante absolutely packed this full of meat! Look at those beautiful layers of prosciutto crudo and cotto. |
The Showdown: Inside vs Outside
So, what is the final result? When it comes straight down to the fillings, Dante takes the prize. Their combination of meats, the creamy cheese, and that rich truffle spread had a depth of flavour that just tasted better overall. I did appreciate the subtle touch of the truffle oil used in Pressato's sandwich, but Dante's actual truffle spread was simply superior.
However, where Dante falls down is the bread, and that is exactly where Pressato completely dominates the competition.

Pressato serves their fillings inside a freshly made focaccia that is unbelievably soft, beautifully airy, and structurally perfect for a sandwich. It doesn't fight back when you take a bite, which makes for a much more enjoyable texture.

| Look at all those gorgeous, airy holes in the crumb! Pressato's freshly baked focaccia is a work of art. |

The Ultimate Verdict
If you were to ask me which single sandwich I would honestly order again on my next trip down Robson Street, my vote goes to Pressato. For me, a spectacular sandwich is built from the foundation up, and that soft, cloud-like focaccia is just too perfect to pass up.
