BC Place Food & Drinks 2026: Full Concessions Menu & Prices

Mr. Sushi Vancouver Review: Exploring Simple Rolls and Classics

After a wonderful day walking around the bustling Car Free Day festival on Commercial Drive, hubby and I realised we were craving our neighbourhood go-to. Naturally, we just had to wind down with a casual dinner at Mr. Sushi! Since we wanted to try something new from their menu, we both ordered a selection of classic items from their rolls and cones section to share.

Quick Spot Details

  • Location: 176 E 2nd Ave, Vancouver, BC V5T 1B5, Canada
  • Featured Items: Kappa roll, Oshinko roll, Salmon and Avocado roll, Tuna and Avocado roll
  • Price: Budget-friendly ($4.75 to $7.50 per order)
  • Verdict: A comforting neighbourhood favourite for casual sushi nights, even if the seasoned sushi rice is on the milder side.

Trying the Classic Rolls

I decided to keep things light and traditional by ordering the crisp kappa roll ($4.75 for 6 pieces) and the vibrant oshinko roll ($4.75 for 6 pieces). We both agreed that the bright oshinko roll is the clear winner here because of the delightful, subtle tartness from the yellow pickled radish.

Meanwhile, hubby went for the hearty salmon and avocado roll ($7.50 for 8 pieces) alongside the savoury tuna and avocado roll ($7.50 for 8 pieces). They are both so good, featuring tender, quality fish paired with the rich creaminess of fresh avocado slices and a light dusting of toasted sesame seeds.

As I have been trying more sushi rolls around the city lately, I have realized that Mr. Sushi's seasoned sushi rice is not quite the best. It tastes a bit more like plain white rice because the traditional vinegar, salt, and sugar balance is not very pronounced. Even so, it makes for a satisfying, comforting neighbourhood meal!
