Salmon Saturday: Scandi-Style Salmon from HelloFresh

Happy Saturday! We had pancakes for breakfast today. Then, had salmon for both lunch and dinner.

• Lunch: Cal Smart Caper-Dill Dressed Salmon with Couscous, Tomatoes, and Spinach
• Dinner: Scandi-Style Salmon with Apple and Pickled Onion Salad

The Caper-Dill Dressed Salmon is my favourite dish from HelloFresh, and I ordered it again in the box that arrived today.

I surprisingly enjoyed the Scandi-Style Salmon too. Although, my heat was too hot, and the skin browned too quickly. I enjoyed the balance of the salad with crunchy apples, bitter arugula and spinach, and sour pickled onions. The buttery potatoes with fresh chopped dill are perfect. I'm willing to have it again.

Both our salmon meals today include dill, which I surprisingly love fresh but abhor in potato chips.

Jollibee location in Surrey, BC Opening Soon

Jollibee Canada is opening its third location in Metro Vancouver and its first branch in Surrey at 9900 King George Boulevard. It will open on February 18 (Thursday) so our kababayans in Surrey doesn't need to travel all the way in Vancouver for a taste of home.

Our 2023 Greater Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival adventure continues. We're near Main Street corner West Broadway this evening, and I'm so surprised that only one hot chocolate source is open later than 7:00 PM, and that's Thierry Chocolaterie, Patisserie, Cafe.

This is my second favourite hot chocolate so far. Nothing beats a 100% pure hot chocolate, and to push it over the edge, it is topped with creamy whipped crème fraîche. If you have not tried crème fraîche, the consistency and texture are like ice cream without the sweetness.

The only reason Fat Elvis from The Pie Hole is still my favourite is because of the crunchy peanut element.

Blaze Beef & Bacon Poutine from Blaze Gourmet Burgers | La Poutine Week 2023

Happy Thursday! My husband is picking up his racing kit at Forerunners. Afterwards, we walked to Blaze Gourmet Burgers to try their Blaze Beef & Bacon Poutine, that's part of La Poutine Week.

This is the third poutine we've tried that's part of La Poutine Week, and it's the best one so far. First, I love the ground beef and bacon on top. The gravy was perfectly seasoned, although it could be warmer to melt the cheese curds. Lastly, the fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

The burger is perfect. The beef was juicy, the cheese was melted, and the tomatoes and lettuce were fresh. It's as classic as it gets.

This is such an excellent burger place. Vancouver is such a great foodie town with hidden gems everywhere.

Cal Smart Chipotle Turkey Chili from HelloFresh

Hubby and I cooked the Cal Smart Chipotle Turkey Chili with Feta and Corn for dinner. I love the addition of corn which provides sweetness to a savoury, spicy chili. Meanwhile, the green peppers give the dish a subtle crunch to change each bite's texture. Overall, a low-calorie hearty warm chili is perfect for a winter night.
