Dinner from The Mac Bar at BC Place | Vancouver Whitecaps FC vs Real Salt Lake

The Whitecaps won 2-1 against Real Salt Lake! I think every time the 'Caps host Indigenous Peoples in their matches, they win (check the 3-0 win against San Jose Earthquakes last October 2, 2021).

As I continue eating from all the food vendors in BC Place, our early dinner tonight is from The Mac Bar. We tried the Mac & Cheese Bowl last April 8, 2022, and it was good. It doesn't taste like Mac & Cheese you get in a box from the grocery store. I didn't grow up eating Mac & Cheese, so I am not the best judge, but I thought it was good.

For today, we customized our Mac & Cheese. I added All Beef Sausage while hubby chose the Pulled Beef Short Rib.

Go for the Short Rib. No question. It's miles superior to the All Beef Sausage.

Tomorrow, we'll be back at BC Place for the Canada Men's National Team friendly VS Panama.

Overland Sandwich Food Truck at TGIF Vancouver

TGIF is back! The South Granville Business Improvement Association (SGBIA) organized Thank Granville It's Food Trucks (TGIF). Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11 in the morning until 7 in the evening from June through the last weekend of August, there will be a rotating lineup of food trucks along West 10th Avenue at Fir Street in front of the Vancouver School Board building.

Lunch from Overland Sandwich Food Truck

Like last year, we will do our best to try as many food trucks as possible. Today is the first Saturday of TGIF 2022, and we went to the area at 12 NN and ordered from the only food truck they have, Overland Sandwich.

We ordered the Original and Tonkatsu sandwiches and cheesy fries.

Tonkatsu Crispy Pork Cutlet Sandwich
Mayo, Cabbage, and Tonkatsu Sauce

Cheesy Fries with Nacho Cheese Sauce

Both sandwiches are delicious but in different ways. I enjoyed the sourness of the pickled onion in the Original because it perfectly balances the fried pork. Meanwhile, the tonkatsu is more traditional in flavour, so it felt familiar. I think I'll order the Original again next time.

TGIF Improvements

Below are some changes from 2021 to 2022 and how they have improved the event.
  1. Trash cans. They placed two large garbage cans in the area, which is definitely an improvement from last year when there were none.
  2. Table and chairs. They added a couple tables with chairs on the south side of the park. It's beautifully painted in the same colour as the TGIF logo.
  3. Performer. While enjoying our lunch, there's a performer singing. It's an excellent addition to the event.
Overall, my journey to lose weight will be more difficult with TGIF back this year. But, I am happy to support small food truck businesses that come to the neighbourhood.

June 25 update

Overland Sandwich is at TGIF again, and this time we ordered a large chilli cheese fries.

Hershey’s S’mores Iced Capp from Tim Hortons | BEST ICED CAPP EVER

I love Tim Hortons Iced Capp! In 2018, I got addicted to the Salted Caramel Iced Capp and would have it almost every other week. I had to control myself to drink it less. I can’t believe that the Hershey’s S’mores Iced Capp this year is even better.

The Hershey’s S’mores Iced Capp features the brand’s signature coffee and cream blended with Hershey’s chocolate syrup, marshmallow-flavoured topping and graham crackers.

This is available for a limited time, so you bet I’ll be back and order this again.

Lunch at Suika and Tiramisu Cheesecake at Trees Cheesecake + Organic Coffee

Walking is part of our routine. We walk to do errands; we walk just for the sake of it, so walking 5 kilometres is usually no big deal. However, I did a 5-kilometre brisk walking to a light jog for the first time ever, and it actually felt great yesterday. But my body didn't agree. My left shoulder felt painful most of Saturday until Sunday morning.

I went to get a full body massage to hopefully relieve the pain, and it did help, but now my hips felt sore. I know I just needed rest, so I took a nap as soon as we got home.

After the massage and before my Sunday afternoon nap, we had lunch at my absolute favourite restaurant Suika. Their Beef Curry with Tonkatsu is my ultimate comfort meal, and I know I needed it today even if I get paranoid that I might gain weight.

I enjoyed my curry while hubby tried a dish from their "Today's Chef's Special" menu. It was delicious too. I am so glad that my husband is always trying new items because it allows me to eat them.

After our lunch, we walked to nearby Trees Cheesecake + Organic Coffee for dessert. We had a slice of their Tiramisu Cheesecake. I am uncertain what makes it "Tiramisu," but the cheesecake was a perfect consistency.

My shoulders are feeling better than yesterday, so hopefully, with a good night's sleep, my hips recuperate too.
