Chimney Cake from Budapest Bakeshop

Our first stop on our Niagara Falls Day tour is almost an hour of exploring the historic town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. We walked along the beautiful street and stopped by Budapest Bakeshop because it smelled so lovely and had a lineup!

Original Chimney Cake

I had the Original Chimney Cake, which was crunchy and soft on the inside. It's like a giant donut. I love it! It's the perfect snack while walking around.

Nutella and Walnut Chimney Cake

Hubby had the exact soft chimney cake but filled with Nutella and walnut.

Tiropita for Breakfast from Aroma Espresso Bar

Happy Sunday! Good morning, Toronto! We're joining a Niagara Falls Day Tour today, but we grabbed breakfast from Amora Espresso Bar before leaving.

We chose the wrap-looking thing, but I think it's a Tiropita (feta cheese baked in filo pastry). It's filling to kick start the day.

Tiropita

I want to post things as close to real-time as possible, so I will publish this at 8:20 AM without the picture. 😅

The Priest and OG Cheeseburger for dinner at The Burger Priest

When I moved to Canada and was unemployed (my first nine months here), my comfort show was "You Gotta Eat Here." I tried a handful of places the show featured in Vancouver, so it only makes sense that we visit The Burger Priest now that we're in Toronto.

OG Cheeseburger
It's the OG. What else do we need to say? Our beef patty with American cheddar and your choice of toppings.

The Priest
The Priest burger from the Burger's Priest? I mean, c'mon. Cheeseburger & 'The Option' (panko-crusted mushroom caps stuffed with cheese) with your choice of toppings.

Stern Fries
Fries, onions, cheese, and secret sauce

Poutine
Fresh cut fries, cheese curds, and gravy

The burger is delicious, but the sides are even better. If you love onions and a mustard-based sauce, go for the Stern Fries. If not, the poutine is surprisingly better than what I expected.

Miso Black Ramen for lunch from Sansotei Ramen

We arrived in Toronto two minutes early, but we had to wait for luggage which meant we missed the UP Express and had to wait for the one that left the airport at 2:25 PM.

When we got to Union Station in Downtown Toronto, there were a lot of Blue Jays fans heading to the game.

We walked to our hotel to leave our luggage since it was already after the check-in time of 3:00 PM. Unfortunately, this means we cannot explore the Union Station food scene. I had planned to have lunch at Sansotei Ramen there.

After leaving our luggage, we decided to walk to St. Michael's Cathedral Basilica for the 5:00 PM Mass. Along Queen Street, there are a lot of sights to see. By 4:10 PM, we ended up at CF Toronto Eaton Centre and boy, was it big. It's bigger than the other CF malls we've been to (CF Pacific in Vancouver and Richmond Centre in Richmond). The food court is also more extensive, and it's packed! I feel like I'm back in the Philippines, specifically the SM food court. Trying to find a seat was a challenge.

Looking around, I spotted Sansotei Ramen. It's meant to be!

Tonkotsu Black
Chashu, black fungus, egg, green onion, and garlic oil

Miso Black
Chashu, spicy kakuni, egg, shiitake, and garlic oil

Zangi
Hokkaido-style fried chicken

The ramen is delicious. The warm broth is comforting after walking around outside.

Breakfast Wrap from Green Bean Cafe in Vancouver International Airport (YVR) Domestic

Good morning! I woke up at 2:00 AM for our 6:00 AM flight to Toronto.

We did our routine and were out of our home at 3:30 AM. We're past security before 5:00 AM, and Green Bean Cafe is the only food option available after security.

I ordered the sausage breakfast wrap, ham breakfast wrap, and two orange juices from Green Bean Cafe.

Green Bean Cafe near gate B14 is the only food source open before 5:00 AM after security.

My order came to a total of $35.69 which is higher than expected, but it is what it is. The food was decent, nothing to rave about but enough to fuel you for a flight.

I wrote this post on the plane and published it while waiting for the Union Pearson Express (UP) to leave Terminal 1. Please forgive any typos, misspellings, and grammar mistakes. I will edit this again when we get to the hotel.

Kokumiso Special for Dinner at Benkei Ramen

Happy Friday! It's Thanksgiving Long Weekend, and we're off to Toronto tomorrow for our first outside BC flight and vacation since 2019.

Before that, we picked up an item from Best Buy and had dinner at Benkei Ramen.

I had the Tan Tan Noodle combo with small Beef Curry and drink, while hubby chose the Kokumiso Special combo with chicken karaage.

I enjoyed the karaage so much that I ordered more. 😁

Kokumiso Special
A perfect mixture of various spices is used to create Benkei's original miso, with tonkatsu soup topped with a black sesame sauce.

3-piece Chicken Karaage

The Kokumiso Ramen is delicious, at least the one hubby shared with me. Meanwhile, the Tan Tan Noodle is more saucy than soupy. It has a good amount of heat to open up the nostrils, but nothing crazy.

Tan Tan Noodle
A mixture of chicken broth and soy milk combined with Benkei's original special sesame sauce and spicy miso.

Small Curry Rice

The curry is usual, but the karaage is better than I expected. It is crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and there's a subtle sweetness to it.

Chicken Karaage

Overall, a food coma-inducing dinner.

Excuse the spelling, typo, and formatting - I'm typing this on my phone because my laptop is already in the luggage. 😅

Benkei Ramen Main Menu and Sides

Below is a list of ramen and sides we tried from Benkei Ramen.

Kale Aid and Falafel Wrap for Lunch from Jugo Juice

We're trying to eat healthier, so I ordered fresh pressed juice and wraps from Jugo Juice.

Kale Aid (Kale, red apple, spinach, celery, lemon and ginger) and Fresh Orange Juice

Chicken Avocado Wrap
Chicken, avocado, tomato, romaine lettuce, mozzarella, and spicy mayo

Falafel Wrap
Falafels, cucumber, tomato, spinach, hummus, and hose-made GOA dressing

Both wraps were delicious, and I'll be happy to order them again. The Kale Aid was good but has an unusual aftertaste which I blame the ginger or maybe the celery. It tasted like curry.

Hubby said drinking it on its own is fine, but taking a bite of the wrap, then sipping the juice did have an unusual after-taste.
