This time, I decided on the Crispy Cod Burger. Intrigued by the promise of crispy fish nestled within a toasted bun, I took the plunge. To complete this culinary adventure, I opted for my all-time favourite Triple O's side, Garlic Parmesan Fries. I played it safe with a classic iced drink for a refreshing beverage.

The Crispy Cod Burger was a revelation! The star of the show was undoubtedly the fish fillet. It boasted a crisp golden exterior, encasing a surprisingly tender and flaky interior. The subtle sweetness of the fish was beautifully complemented by the crisp iceberg lettuce, fresh vine-ripened tomatoes, and red onions. A dollop of tartar sauce added a touch of tang, while the classic Triple O's sesame seed bun held everything together perfectly.

Happy Saturday evening! We didn't get HelloFresh this week, so I ordered fried chicken instead. It took me what feels like forever to decide whether to get KFC or somewhere else and, if elsewhere, where.

After checking DoorDash for chicken, it suggested so many options. In the middle of the list is Church's Chicken. They have decent gravy, so I went with them.

We got the 20-piece chicken with two large gravies and large French fries. It's a happy night. 

Reheating this will be perfect in the air fryer. Yum!

The workweek can be a whirlwind of endless emails, long customer phone calls, and other tasks in between, but one thing brings joy to the Thursday routine at our office - team lunch! This week's theme? The timeless and versatile delight that is pie. We decided to treat ourselves to a delectable spread from A La Mode Pie Express, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary.

I chose the Salmon Chowder Puff Pot Pie from the extensive pie menu. It's delivered and packaged perfectly. We're impressed.

The smokiness of the salmon, the richness of the creamy broth, and the heartiness of the potatoes created a bowl of comfort and indulgence.

What truly set the Salmon Chowder Puff Pot Pie apart was the pièce de résistance—the puff pastry on top. The contrast in textures, from the crisp pastry to the creamy filling, elevated the dining experience to new heights.

A Thursday team lunch centred around the pie, especially the Salmon Chowder Puff Pot Pie from A La Mode Pie Express, turned a regular workday into a memorable culinary adventure.

Happy Thursday! It's team lunch, and the theme for this week is Middle Eastern.

They say the third time is the charm, and it is true in this case. The first restaurant we tried to order cancelled. The second one never confirmed our order, so I ordered the next available restaurant in DoorDash: Albasha Express Shawarma & Falafel.

We ordered their mixed chicken and falafel plate, which is a lot of delicious food in one packed container. Crispy falafel is an excellent accompaniment to the succulent tender chicken. Everything is delicious. I am reminded why a former colleague loved this place.

Happy Wednesday! I am on vacation starting tomorrow, so my colleague suggested we have our team lunch today since it's for the team together, and it will be pointless if it's just her. I told her we should ask permission, but she said it's too early in Melbourne for us to ask permission from anyone.

The chosen theme for team lunch is Indian food, specifically biryani. We ordered from Davie Dosa Company, and I got the Beef Biryani. It was a generous portion. I did not want to finish it, but I had to because I wouldn't be in the office the next day to finish my leftovers.

The rice was flavorful and spicy. There is a generous amount of beef, albeit some is tough. I wish it was more tender.

Overall, it was a good team lunch before my vacation. I will miss team lunch next week, but I'll note it here.

Laksa from Hawker's Delight Deli

It's Thursday, which means company-paid team lunch and Malaysian cuisine is the choice of the week.

My only colleague in the office is feeling under the weather, so I recommended Laksa. I am so happy she enjoyed the perfect bowl of Laksa from Hakwer's Delight Deli.

First, the price point is impressive. We received a generous bowl of Laksa for less than $15.00! Then, it arrived still warm and packed well - no spills!

Rice noodles served in mild curry, rich in coconut milk and shrimp, garnished with tofu, puff, fish, cake, egg, shredded chicken, prawns, and sprouts.

Lastly, it was excellent, with the rice noodles soaking up the rich and creamy coconut milk-based broth. It also came with succulent chunks of chicken, plump shrimp, and tofu cubes.

9-Piece from Mary Brown's Chicken

I love fried chicken and am constantly looking for the best, usually from fast food joints. My favourite in Metro Vancouver is still from LA Chicken in Richmond, while my favourite from big chains is Church's Texas Chicken. I also have a favourite Taiwanese popcorn chicken from Redbeef Noodle Kitchen, and my favourite Japanese karaage is from Ramen Gojiro. I know my fried chicken and the city has many delicious joints.

9-Piece Bone-In Feast with half regular and half spicy Chicken from Mary Brown's Chicken

Today, we visited my parents and had Mary Brown's Chicken delivered for the first time. If you can take the heat, their spicy fried chicken is top-notch. The real winner, though, is the wedges. It's seasoned perfectly and has that crispy exterior and soft interior. Overall, it's a good place, and it's a Canadian chain, so perfect for Canada Day.

It's a beautiful Sunday! My parents are back in Canada. Yay! My mom requested a burger from BC fast-food chain Triple O's for dinner.

It was my first time trying the Original Burger, and it didn't disappoint. At this point, I have tried all beef burger variants (except double-double and lettuce wrap). My favourite is the Chipotle BBQ Bacon Melt.

It's disappointing that there are so many issues with our orders. For example, our chosen sides of one biscuit and one Original Recipe Seasoned Corn did not arrive. I also ordered a large gravy, and they forgot that too.

DoorDash did offer a refund, but it's still disappointing.

To end our food coma dinner, we ordered both KFC desserts: Chocolate Chip Cookie and KFC S'more Brownie. Go for the brownie.

Happy Monday! I took today and tomorrow off from work for an extra long weekend. So for dinner, we ordered from Burger King.

It seems like the last time we ate from there was in 2020.

I ordered the Ghost Pepper Nuggets to see how spicy it was and was extremely disappointed. There was no heat whatsoever, but it's tender chicken. Why do I get the feeling that we received regular nuggets? 🤷‍♀️

Kale Aid and Falafel Wrap for Lunch from Jugo Juice

We're trying to eat healthier, so I ordered fresh pressed juice and wraps from Jugo Juice.

Both wraps were delicious, and I'll be happy to order them again. The Kale Aid was good but has an unusual aftertaste which I blame the ginger or maybe the celery. It tasted like curry. 

Hubby said drinking it on its own is fine, but taking a bite of the wrap, then sipping the juice did have an unusual after-taste.

After dinner from Boston Pizza, we decided to order desserts and this time, I searched for a cake place from DoorDash and found Breka Bakery & Cafe. So my siblings ordered a cake each while hubby and I picked four of the six available donut flavours.

Vancouver has a lot of donut stores, and I think Breka Bakery & Cafe became my favourite. That dough is soft, chewy, and moist. It's perfect. The flavours are also on point and not overly sweet. I absolutely love it!

My three siblings are raving about their cakes, especially my brother, who has good things to say about the New York Cheesecake.

After eating desserts, we continued playing Smash Bros until we were too tired and decided to go home. It's a happy day with my siblings and we can't wait to visit them again next weekend!

After eating our breakfast from Tim Hortons, I took a nap while NFL Redzone was running in the background. Finally, I fell asleep and felt a little better, but my cramps were still wrong.

For lunch, we decided to order from Subway. Hubby had a sandwich while I went for a wrap. We also called two cookies. 😁

My Southwest Steak & Avocado Signature Grilled Rice Wrap from Subway was good. The steak, avocado, vegetables, and sauce were delicious. The only downer is the rice. This is why North Americans don't like rice because Subway (and similar establishments) doesn't cook it properly. It's hard and grainy.

Happy Saturday! We spent most of today at my parent's place in Richmond. For dinner, we had food delivered from Fogg n' Suds. I was already feeling food coma from munching on chips all afternoon, so I wasn't sure what I wanted to eat.

Hubby and I went for Pasta but didn't finish it. So we can have the leftovers tomorrow.

My "Build Your Own Pasta"

For my "Build Your Own Pasta," I selected Spaghetti with Pesto Cream Sauce. For protein, I went for smoked salmon and shrimp. Then, I chose all green vegetables (which should help with the pain): broccoli, spinach, peas, asparagus, and artichoke. Finally, for garnish, I decided on parsley.

It was delicious, but there's extra sauce afterwards, which we kept so I can use it with the pasta at home.

It's a happy night despite the pain. I'm so blessed to have a wonderful, caring husband.

It's the 5th year in a row that we enjoyed Mexican-inspired food at Cinco de Mayo (May 5).

• 2018 - We had nachos, quesadilla, burrito, and churros from Sal y Limon on Kingsway Avenue.
• 2019 - We had nachos, tacos, and churros from Tacofino Taco Bar in Gastown.
• 2020 - We had nachos, quesadilla, burrito, and churros from Las Margaritas in Kitsilano delivered at our home.
• 2021- We had nachos, quesadilla, burrito, and churros from Salsa and Agave in Yaletown delivered at our home.

We originally had planned to dine in at one of the many restaurants that serve Mexican cuisine in Vancouver. However, it was raining quite hard, and our plans kept on changing throughout the day, so we ended up looking at DoorDash and choosing Loz Takos.

We're pretty consistent with our orders, but I'm dropping quesadilla because I can make it at home.

Hubby and I are still on a calorie-counted diet, so we're sharing the Asada de res (grilled steak) burrito. The burrito was good. The steak was a bit dry, but overall a good filling burrito.

It's pretty hard to go wrong with a churro, and I am satisfied with this one. Although, I don't know why Loz Takos calls it churrito because it's not as small as we thought it would be.
