Royal Waffle from Le Petit Belge

Happy Friday! I invited my youngest sister, a bright 21-year-old who works part-time at Eggspectation, to spend a couple hours with me downtown. My goal? To give her a glimpse into the world of professional offices and spark a fire for her future career aspirations.

After a productive morning and a sweet interlude at Bisou Bake House, we returned to the office for a quick wrap-up. As if on cue, we spotted Mom and my other sister crossing the street, ready to join our day of exploration!

With a full family crew assembled, it was time for lunch. Luckily, my sister did research beforehand. Le Petit Belge, a haven for all things waffle, was her choice. This charming restaurant, specializing in both sweet and savoury waffles, was the ideal destination to satisfy everyone's cravings.

Knowing our appetites, my husband and I shared a Salmon Benny. This delightful creation featured perfectly sliced smoked salmon, creamy avocado, and two poached eggs, all lovingly nestled on a golden brown waffle. The crowning touch was a dollop of homemade hollandaise sauce, adding a touch of richness to every bite. This dish offered the perfect savoury fix, with the fluffy waffle base providing a delightful textural contrast to the silky smooth eggs and creamy sauce.

For the sweet finale, we opted for the Royal Waffle. This majestic creation showcased a Brussels waffle as its base, a canvas upon which a vibrant display of flavours danced. Fresh strawberries, a cloud of whipped cream, and a drizzle of Belgian chocolate transformed this waffle into a dessert masterpiece. Every bite was an explosion of sweetness and contrasting textures – the soft waffle, the juicy strawberries, and the decadent chocolate – making it a genuinely share-worthy indulgence.

Our family happily occupied a spacious corner table at Le Petit Belge. The restaurant's warm and inviting atmosphere perfectly complemented the delicious food and the joy of being together. Laughter filled the air as we shared stories, savoured our waffles, and created lasting memories.
