Cotton Candy Blizzard® Treat from Dairy Queen

After dinner, we grabbed a small Cotton Candy Blizzard® Treat from Dairy Queen along Robson Street.

Cotton Candy Blizzard® Treat from Dairy Queen

It's the iconic soft serve topped with candy sprinkles. I am not a fan of it. The colour looks nice, and I like that there are crunchy elements to this Blizzard, but not something I'd order again or recommend.

Below is a list of Blizzard Treats from Dairy Queen that we have tried.

Original Fried Chicken and Bulgogi Rice Bowl from Pelicana Chicken

Before heading home after a half day in Downtown Vancouver, we had dinner at Pelicana Chicken.

I have been wanting fried chicken for a couple of weeks now and was hoping to go to Hot Star to satisfy my cravings; then, I thought of Gojiro Ramen. I should have gone there with my instinct, but ramen on a sweltering day doesn't seem right, so we walked along Robson Street and spotted Pelicana Chicken.

It is a Korean fried chicken joint from South Korea. I ordered 4-pieces of boneless Original Fried Chicken while hubby suggested we get the Bulgogi Rice Bowl.

21. 4 pieces Boneless Original Fried Chicken from Pelicana Chciekn

I want juicy fried chicken and did not get it. The exterior was crispy, but the interior was desert dry on some pieces. It's sad. There are a couple pieces with moist chicken. Maybe I should try bone-in chicken next time.

A look inside the chicken.

The Bulgogi Bowl was good, though. The beef was tender, the sauce was perfect, and even that chow mein was good. The mandu could be better. Although, my expectations for it could be unfairly high.

Marinated Koran BBQ beef, salad, 1-piece mandoo (added extra mandoo), corn on rice

Overall, I still want crispy outside and juicy inside fried chicken.

Jumbo All-Beef Dog and Bratwurst Sausage from Mr. Tube Steak

For lunch, we got a Jumbo All-Beef Dog at Bratwurst Sausage from a staple food truck on the corner of West Georgia and Granville Street, Mr. Tube Steak.

Both are perfectly cooked with a snappy exterior and juicy inside. The bun is surprisingly toasted as well. I also love the Chipotle sauce and tried their House Special Sauce. The best thing about Mr. Tube Steak is you can add as many toppings and sauces as available on the side table.

According to their promotional tarp, they have been serving Vancouver since 1992! Amazing.

Original Pinoy Iskrambol from Pampanga's Cuisine | Proudly Philippines Food and Travel Fair

After sleeping in, grabbing late breakfast at Tim Hortons, and walking across Granville Bridge, we arrived at Robson Square to visit the Proudly Philippines 2023: Food and Travel Fair, organized by the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver. We walked around to see food options.

Pinoy Iskrambol from Pampanga's Cuisine, Vancouver BC

Of course, I supported Ate Kaye of KayeBakes.ca and ordered my favourite Mochanut Mamon. 🤤 Then, we noticed Iced Candy and Original Pinoy Iskramble sold at the Pampanga's Cuisine booth. After making puppy eyes at my husband, he reluctantly allowed me to order an Original Pinoy Iskrambol.

Pinoy Iskrambol from Pampanga's Cuisine

It is a pink shaved ice dessert with milk, sugar, and banana extract. I remember enjoying this growing up in the streets of Quezon City. I was skeptical if the flavour would be similar to what I remember, and I am happy to share that I feel like a kid again back in our first home in Novaliches. The sweetness and milk flavour are all spot-on. My husband said, "It's acceptable, but! it is missing the dust and pollution of Metro Manila." Hihi. ♥️

If you're craving Filipino Iskrambol in Vancouver, BC, head to Pampanga's Cuisine location at 6094 Fraser Street.

Coconut Cream Donut from Tim Hortons

I always keep an eye peeled for any different Classic donuts, and at our favourite location, I spotted the Coconut Cream Donut.

The shaved coconuts on top bring much coconutty flavour, which is perfectly balanced by the sweet cream inside. Also, the donut is not stale since it's still relatively early. I call that a win with any Tims donuts.

Below is a list of Classic Donuts from Tim Hortons that I have tried:

  1. Apple Fritter Donut
  2. Boston Cream Donut
  3. Chocolate Dip Donut
  4. Chocolate Glazed Donut
  5. Chocolate Toasted Coconut Donut
  6. Coconut Cream Donut
  7. Double Chocolate Donut
  1. Honey Crueller Donut
  2. Honey Dip Donut
  3. Maple Dip Donut
  4. Old Fashioned Plain Donut
  5. Old Fashioned Sugar Donut
  6. Orange Sprinkle Donut
  1. Special Olympics Donut
  2. Sour Cream Glazed Donut
  3. Strawberry Fill Powdered Sugar Donut
  4. Sugar Loop Donut
  5. Vanilla Dip Donut
  6. Walnut Crunch Donut

Regular BLT Sandwich from Tim Hortons

I am not a fan of Tim Hortons' sandwiches. The bread and meat/veggie ratio is way off. The Regular BLT Sandwich has the most acceptable ratio of bread and content, but there's a little flavour here.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend any of the sandwiches except the Craveables. Those are small but have decent taste.
