Cinnamon Sugar Chimney Cake from Transylvanian Chimney Cake (#44) in Vancouver Christmas Market

I don't think people follow my blog except for my husband (Hi, Love!). But if you do, you will know I had a delicious chimney cake from Budapest Bakeshop during our vacation in Ontario. I want that in Vancouver. So I had high hopes when I saw one of the vendors at the Vancouver Christmas Market selling chimney cakes.

I had the original in Budapest Bakeshop, so I thought going with Cinnamon Sugar would recreate the same flavour, but the cinnamon flavour is a bit too strong for me. The chimney cake is also not as layered as I expected.

Meat Sandwiches from Das Smoked Meat Haus (#48) in Vancouver Christmas Market 2022

We're at the opening day and hour of Vancouver Christmas Market 2022 for the season, and after enjoying the Farmer Sausage from Bratwurst Haus, we went to Das Smoked Meat Haus. The "Continental Sausage" sign on their booth gave the impression that they also sell sausages or bratwurst.

Since they only have two sandwiches on their menu, we ordered both in their original sizes. The Original Size is substantial already. Now I wonder how big the Grande Size is.

Original Smoked Meat Sandwich
Bonjour! Visions of Montreal smoked meat dancing in your head! The king of deli sandwiches starts with Canada Grade A Beef Brisket, cured, seasoned with a secret family recipe, then slowly smoked and sliced paper thin.

Original Roast Beef Au Jus Sandwich
Mouth-watering Canada Grade A Beef is seasoned and slow-roasted for hours, sliced thin, and dipped in au jus before it's served on a brioche bun.

Both sandwiches are delicious. Hubby preferred the Smoked Meat, while I love the Roast Beef. I'll be happy to order either again.

Farmer Sausage from Bratwurst Haus (#40) | Vancouver Christmas Market 2022

Happy Saturday! Hubby and I went to the opening day of the Vancouver Christmas Market. We purchased the Season Pass to come back to continue exploring the food offerings inside.

Our first bite of food is from Bratwurst Haus. We entered during the first hour of opening, and they're the first food stall in the line. The first drink vendor with a line is the Pyramid.

The Farmer Sausage was peppery and was perfectly cooked with a snappy skin and juicy interior. The sauerkraut is an excellent addition as a palate cleanser, so you can just keep digging in.

Hubby chose the Farmer Sausage because it's a 150-year-old recipe. He's also eyeing the bacon-wrapped one, maybe next time!

Snacks and Drinks Menu and Review of Millenium Karaoke

After a planned Korean BBQ dinner and an unplanned soy-based cake for dessert, we arrived at Millenium Karaoke (MK)! When planning my birthday celebration, I told my siblings I wanted to enjoy Korean BBQ, which they were okay with. Then, they randomly requested if we could do karaoke afterwards.

I searched for a couple of days for a Korean BBQ spot near a karaoke place in Richmond, BC and found Gang Nam Korean BBQ and MK. They're 6 minutes from each other.

I made reservations for two hours for six people at 7:00 PM. We arrived on the dot as they were opening.

IMPORTANT: Everyone in your party must present two pieces of valid ID at the front desk before you can enter. My youngest sister forgot her ID, and we had to Uber her to go home and back to MK so she could grab her ID. Thankfully, it's nearby.

First, food and drinks are expensive. The cocktails are good, but the food is not something I recommend.

Sweet Japan and Tequila Sunrise
Each cocktail costs $13.99 plus 12% gratuity and applicable taxes.

The Appetizer Platter below costs $25.99 plus 12% gratuity and applicable taxes. I expected to get more food because I was paying $25.00 and couldn't believe how little food came. Moreover, the food was not spectacular. But, to be fair, you don't go here for the food but for the singing.

Appetizer Platter
Spring rolls, mini sausages, fish balls, and Taiwanese fish cake

TIP: Eat elsewhere before going to MK. You can maybe get one drink, but anything more than that is a bit much.

I never knew I missed karaoke nights until today. I'm still very much Filipino by heart, even though I'm a Canadian Citizen already. The room was clean, and even the bathroom was clean. Although, my hubby pointed out that we're the first users of the room for the day, which is why it's still neat. There are six of us for two hours (45 per hour per room), and even with the12% gratuity, each person paid roughly $17.50.

Taiwanese Soy Sponge Cake from Soy Talk

After a fun and food coma dinner at Gang Nam Korean BBQ, we had 30 minutes to spare before our karaoke dinner. We started looking for an ice cream place nearby. Don't judge us for wanting ice cream when it's below 10 degrees Celsius outside. 🤣

Our search led us to Soy Talk. Unfortunately, there's a sign on the cashier that ice cream is unavailable. It's not meant to be.

My younger sister bought Taiwanese Soy Sponge Cake for us to share. Thanks, Sister!

Taiwanese Soy Sponge Cake
Freshly handmade with pure natural ingredients, our sponge cake is sprinkled with healthy organic soybean floss. Fluffy in texture, our spongecake is sandwiched with a light milky soy sauce.

The cake was fluffy and soft, while the soybean floss provided crunch and the cream in the middle added a subtle sweetness. It's such a nice dessert and would be lovely with coffee or tea.

Korean BBQ Dinner at Gang Nam Korean BBQ

Happy Friday! I'm finally able to celebrate my birthday with my siblings. So naturally, I want a Korean BBQ, and we end up at Gang Nam Korean BBQ in Richmond, BC.

I ordered a lot, but it's enough for our party of six.

BBQ Dinner Combo I and G

I ordered BBQ Dinner Combo I, which includes pork belly, pork jowl, and pork bulgogi and BBQ Dinner Combo G which has rib eye, pork belly, GN bulgogi, and pork bulgogi. Unfortunately, I only took a picture of our raw meat once and didn't have a photo of any of the marinated meat.

Each combo gets a choice of a stone bowl and either pajeon (seafood pancake) or japchae.

Japchae as part of our BBQ Dinner Combo

This is my favourite japchae from all the Korean restaurants in Vancouver that I have tried.

Fried Gyoza

You can skip the gyoza and order the Fried Chicken instead. Unfortunately, I missed taking the photo of the Fried Chicken that we ordered. My youngest sister loved it.

Overall, the food is delicious, albeit expensive. The service was friendly and prompt, especially for a small, busy restaurant.
