Lunch delivery from Klasik Inasal and Noodle Express

Happy Tuesday! It's rare for us to have anything delivered on a weekday, but well we have no viand to go with our rice so might as well order Filipino food. Last week, we had Chinese cuisine which goes well with rice, this week it's Filipino food.

I have ordered from Klasik Inasal in the past and I ordered three same dishes: Shanghai Roll, Pork BBQ Skewer, and Eggplant Omelette (Tortang Talong).

2 orders of Pork BBQ Skewer and I apparently made a mistake and only ordered one serving of deep-fried Shanghai roll

Eggplant Omelette (Tortang Talong)

Party Tray

I ordered two viand (ulam) so we have something to eat for the rest of the week. Hubby kept saying will two be enough for the rest of the week. He doubts my food budgeting skills lol. I understand his hesitation since the "party tray" we ordered looked small. Though, it's full to the brim.

Chicken Caldereta

My plan is to have the caldereta for tomorrow breakfast and lunch. Hopefully, even Thursday for breakfast. Then, for Thursday and Friday lunch we're going to have the bicol express.

Bicol Express

I wish the Bicol Express was spicier, but that's because I love spicy food. Yay for Filipino food. I was thinking of ordering from DoorDash, then I noticed that they charge me an 11% fee and I am sure they charge the restaurants some fee as well which is infuriating. Anyway, all is well. I love SkipTheDishes and the ability to contribute to a restaurant which I almost always do.

Lunch delivery from Szechuan Chili

Monday! We don't have food for the week and I'm too lazy to cook so we ordered A LOT of food from Szechuan Chili which we will reheat and eat for the week, at least that's the plan. We'll see.

Our feast from Szechuan Chili.

Deep-Fried Wantons

Can I order more of this, please? It's so crunchy. It's the perfect munchies while watching football games.

General Tso's Chicken - I love the heat!

Fish with Salt and Pepper - After the wontons, this is my favourite from today.

Sweet and Sour Pork - It's hard to screw up this dish, it's standard issue.

Assorted Deluxe Vegetables - I love it! I kinda wish I ordered two vegetable dishes and removed the pork.

Shanghai Chow Mein - Standard issue. The one from Lin's is better.

We saw this sticker in the delivery bag.

It seems like I didn't take a photo of the Tan Tan Noodles with Meat Sauce which we're having for dinner tonight. If you've been reading this blog, we're "consistent" with our orders from Chinese restaurants: dumplings (if they have xiao long bao, we usually get that but if it's not we get the next closest thing), Shanghai-style chow mein, and Tan Tan Noodles when it's available.

Dinner delivery from Taishoken Ramen

I don't have any particular craving tonight so we used Skip The Dishes and sort by Skip Score and select the first restaurant we have not tried.

For tonight, a new restaurant has appeared on the list - Taishoken Ramen. I think I found a new favourite ramen source. It's so delicious! My previous favourite ramen source is Ramen Gojiro, but primarily it's because of their fried chicken. I also loved the ramen from Menya Raizo but they changed owners and the recipe changed.

Miso Tonkotsu - Rich broth with creamy miso. Two slices of pork chashu, green onions, bean sprouts, egg, naruto fish cake, and seaweed.

Karamiso Tonkotsu: Spicy. Rich and sharp broth with creamy miso. Two slices of pork chashu, green onions, bean sprouts, egg, naruto fish cake, fried garlic chips, and seaweed.

This is both our ramen bowls. The soup arrived hot, perfect for eating.

Pork Gyoza

Okonomi Gyoza - if you're getting a side get this one! It's so good.

They're so sweet. The bag arrived with this note.

I am happy to have had this tonight. It's such a comforting meal for a busy weekend.

Lunch delivery from Daikichi Sushi Shop

We didn't order any food from restaurants yesterday, which is extremely rare for us. I had to work an extra day because our company is making a Black Friday weekend sale and we want to give our customers the best experience. On top of working 6 days last week, I am scrambling to finish this side project I'm working on, plus running errands and cleaning the house. Honestly, it's too much.

Today, I decided to slow down a bit and relax. I continued working on the side project in the morning then decided to order for lunch from Daikichi Sushi Shop.

Our food coma lunch from Daikichi Sushi Shop

Chicken Teriyaki Box (Assorted tempura, chicken teriyaki, California roll, rice, salad, and spring roll.)

Chicken Karaage

Takoyaki

Boston Roll (Prawn tempura, crab, BBQ salmon unagi sauce and ponzu sauce.)

Deep-Fried Gyozas
Oyako Donburi

Review and Comments

My favourite items from today are the chicken kara-age and deep-fried gyoza. Everything else was either average or poor. Do not order the Oyako Donburi - it's not good. The Boston Roll was good, and the Chicken Teriyaki and Tempura from the box is average. The only thing they have going for them is the super cute boxes for the appetizers.

Cute Packaging from Daikichi Sushi Shop

Oh well. Tomorrow is the last day of the month, which means we can order again. :)

Lunch delivery from Bombay Masala Indian Restaurant

We had leftover rice from yesterday, so we needed to order from a place that eats rice as much as we (Filipinos) do.

Sorting by Skip Score in SkipTheDishes, one of the first few suggestions was Bombay Masala Indian Restaurant. Since my parents are bringing us food for the week this week, hubby said we only order a couple dishes instead of our usual too much.

Palak Paneer - Cottage cheese cooked in a fresh spinach curry tempered with garlic, ginger, and a touch of cream.

Somehow, I prefer the Palak Paneer from Meinhardt Fine Foods.

Chicken Vindaloo - Boneless chicken cooked in a tangy curry sauce

The one from New India Buffet + Bar & Restaurant is better. I don't know why.

Veggie Samosa - Vegetarian. Crisp homemade patties stuffed with potatoes and green peas served with chutney. One order comes with two pieces.

The samosa was great. I enjoyed the crunchy outside.

Garlic Naan - Garnished naan with garlic and corriander

The naan was the best thing we've had from this delivery. Though we have leftovers for tomorrow, so I look forward to reheating both the vindaloo and paneer.

This is written on the outside of the delivery bag. They're so sweet.

Gulab Jamun - Pastry balls deep fried and served in cardamom syrup.

I have tried this dessert only once in the past, and I think it's too sweet.

Lunch delivery from Pizza Pizza

It's our first time trying pizza from Pizza Pizza. We ordered too much like always, and you can never really go wrong with pizza, so from pizza alone, it's nothing spectacular. However, my favourite thing that we ordered, which I plan to order again, is their jalapeno poppers.

All our order from Pizza Pizza

Small Meat Supreme - It's your standard meat pizza.

Jalapeno Poppers - This is the BEST Jalapeno Poppers I have tried so far.

Half Moon Cheesy Bread - It's great with the marinara sauce.

Chicken Bites - It's again standard chicken bites, but it's too expensive, in my opinion.

Large Potato Wedges - Not many places offer potato wedges, so we ordered it since it's available.

Funnel Cake Stix - Disappointing. It was supposed to arrive with a caramel dip, and it didn't.

Will we order from Pizza Pizza again? Maybe, but it's not top of my favourite pizza chain list.

Lunch delivery from Johnny Rockets

May 2022 update: Johnny Rockets on Oak Street and West Broadway is now closed.

I love the animated series Bob's Burgers, and there's an episode where Gene, Tina and Louise were singing outside their restaurant, "Burgers and Fries" LOL. I just remembered that when I started writing this blog about our burger and fries lunch from Johnny Rockets.

Two signature burgers, two "love-at-first-bites," and two small premium shakes.
Chipotle Bacon Burger - Spicy. Melted pepper jack cheese, thick-cut smoked bacon, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, and Johnny Rocket's smokin' chipotle ranch.
The Rocket Burger - Canadian cheddar, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and special sauce.

We ordered two burgers. I love them both, but as expected, I am biased toward the bacon and chipotle sauce. However, I love the onions in The Rocket Burger. The sides are standard issue french fries, which I have been craving and onion rings, which hubby loves.

Then, for our premium shakes, we ordered coffee, oreo and mocha.

Here's the song from Bob's Burgers that I was telling you about at the start of this post. :D

Dinner delivery from Pacific Poke

It's my first time trying Poke. I have seen a lot of Poke restaurants opening up here in Vancouver and I have watched a Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives episode about it, but that's the limit of my exposure. Oh and my brother went to Hawaii and absolutely love the dish.

I was hesitant to order Poke, but I am letting SkipTheDishes decide my meals for today (check this blog post).

Our very first Poke Bowls EVER.

The Main Bowl - Salmon, spicy ahi tuna, crab and shrimp, ginger jicama, avocado nori, seaweed salad, citrus mayonnaise, and sesame miso dressing. I picked Brown Rice as my base.

There's no denying the bowl looks beautiful. I mixed it up and started eating my heart away. It's delicious, however, I have reached a point where's the creaminess from the mayonnaise and dressing is too much I need spice or citrus to brighten it up.
I couldn't finish my bowl. I told hubby that next time we should just order one bowl and share it.

The Cali Bowl - Spicy salmon, crab and shrimp, pickled red onions, seaweed salad, avocado nori, and spicy mayonnaise.

I thought my bowl is delicious, but when I tried what hubby chose, darn. The Cali Bowl is even better! What's the primary difference-maker? The crunch provided by Furikake, Wasabi Crunch, and Fried Onions. The varying texture in his bowl as well as the pickled red onions made all the difference in the world.
We went overboard and ordered all their desserts as well as their Coco Panda drink.

The Coco Panda is like the creamy coconut juice we grew up enjoying back in the Philippines. Meanwhile, for the desserts they offered - you can never really go wrong with Chewy Marshmallow Crispy Bar and cookies.

Happy Saturday!

Lunch delivery from Papaya Hut

Weekend! Honestly, we're not craving anything this weekend. I thought of relying on Foursquare to help me decide to order, but I realize I would prefer it as a guide when I feel safe to dine in again.

For today, I trusted SkipTheDishes instead. It has become my favourite delivery platform because of the Skip Points, and I love how you can sort restaurants by Skip Score, Delivery Fee, and Time Estimate.

We ordered from Papaya Hut because it's second on the list when sorted by Skip Score, and we already have tried the first on their list.

Our order from Papaya Hut
Green Curry - Gaeng Khiaowan
Thai Curry is my second favourite curry dish (Japanese curry is number one). We enjoyed this with brown rice.

Thai Fried Noodles - Pad Thai with Tomato Sauce

Pad Thai is a standard-issue as well, nothing spectacular.

Chicken Wings - Peek Gai Tod

The chicken wings are the best ones I've tried from a Thai restaurant. When we opened the container, it smelled so good. I want to order two more containers.

Spring Rolls - Por Pia Tod

The Spring Rolls - Por Pia Tod was crunchy, but there's not enough filling inside, which is unfortunate.

We don't eat from Thai restaurants enough, so we really have little experience in which ones we absolutely love, so take this experience with a grain of salt when ordering from Papaya Hut.
