I tried ALL FOOD HUTS inside the VANCOUVER CHRISTMAS MARKET | Here are my Favourites

I tried all the food huts inside the Vancouver Christmas Market, and below are my top 5 must-try. For prices and menus, check this post.

1. Das Gulasch Haus

The stew is flavourful and perfectly warm for the cold weather. If you eat meat, go for beef stew. Otherwise, they offer the potato vegan stew.

2. Haxen Haus

If you told my past self that pork would be something I'd love, she might get a heart attack. It's a testimony of the delicious pork hock from the Haxen Haus. It's crispy and full of pork flavour, perfect with beer.

3. Perogies

It seems silly to recommend the perogies, but the perfect bite is a piece of perogy, sauteed onion, sausage crumbs, sour cream, and sauerkraut. I am salivating just thinking about it.

Potato and Cheddar Perogies

4. Mr. Hotcakes

Hubby and I had difficulty recommending sweets because there are so many delicious ones. However, our favourite sweets food hut is Mr. Hotcakes. It was warm, topped with whipped cream, and filled with something gooey. It's perfect.

5. Churros

The last spot was a toss between Authentic Churros and Pancake and Waffle Haus, but I can always get pancakes and waffles outside the market. But delicious churros are harder to find in Vancouver, and the churros inside the Vancouver Christmas Market are top-notch.

Sugar Churros

Hubby and I paid for seasonal tickets to try as many food items as possible to prepare this list. If you want to know my thoughts on all the food hut vendors, you can find the list below.

Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! May you find peace, joy, and love this festive season. If you find this post helpful, please share it with your family, friends, and loved ones.

Where are the food vendors located inside the Vancouver Christmas Market?

Below is my poor attempt to map out and visualize the locations of the eats and treats inside the Vancouver Christmas Market.

Mr. Pretzels inside the Vancouver Christmas Market

With this post, I can finally say that I have ordered from every food hut in the Tannenbaum Terrace inside the Vancouver Christmas Market.

Mr. Pretzels has locations inside Park Royal, Richmond Centre, Metrotown, and Tsawwassen Mills near Vancouver, so it seems silly to prioritize it over other vendors. However, it doesn't discount the fact that they have delicious pretzels. We ordered the Cinnamon & Sugar Pretzels, and I ate more than my hubby, which is all you need to know if I like it.

Mr. Pretzels from Vancouver Christmas Market

I'll definitely order one again in Richmond Centre or Metrotown whenever we find ourselves there.

Fried Squid Tentacles from Squid Feast inside the Vancouver Christmas Market

Please correct me if I am wrong, but fried squid is not usually found in European Christmas Market. However, we're in multicultural Canada and need our own touch.

I ordered large salt and pepper fried squid tentacles, and I absolutely love them. Honestly, it's one of the foods I didn't want to get because it seems out of place, but I have no regrets. It was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. It's also the perfect finger food while walking around the market.

Large Deep Fried Squid Tentacle

I immediately thought of my younger sister, who loves salt and pepper squid from Chinese restaurants.

This is the penultimate food hut we have tried. One more to go, and I can officially write that I have tried all the food huts inside the Vancouver Christmas Market.

French Onion Soup from Das Soup Haus in Vancouver Christmas Market

I have tried almost all the food huts inside the Vancouver Christmas Market, and unfortunately, the item we dislike the most is the French Onion Soup from Das Soup Haus. (Sorry!)

It's just sweet because of the onion and a different note of sweetness because of the bay leaf. There's no salt or pepper, no wonder they have salt shakers where you pick up the food.

Beef bones, onions, thyme, cheese, red wine, and butter

Mom's Perfect Grilled Cheese
Hot buttery, grilled sourdough, Swiss, cheddar, and mozzarella

The grilled cheese was incredibly buttery but was not enough to save the soup.

The better soup and grilled cheese for me are from Cheese Me Raclette, or just get the stew at Das Gulasch Haus.

Schnitzel in Vancouver Christmas Market

We entered the Vancouver Christmas Market shortly after 11:30 AM. Our first stop is the Schnitzel Haus, for obviously, some Schnitzel served with potato salad and gravy.

German Pork Schnitzel with Potato Salad and Gravy

Pork Schnitzel in Vancouver Christmas Market

I am pleasantly surprised with how well the freshly fried pork cutlet, salty gravy, and sweet cold potato salad work together. I love the balance of the meal.

The description below is printed under the menu of the Schnitzel Haus.

Schnitzel is a gently tenderized meat cutlet that is breaded in flour, egg, and breadcrumbs then fried.

In its present form, Wiener Schnitzel (Wien - Vienna) dates back to the late 1800s.

Our "Viennese Style" Schnitzel is served with potato salad. A German twist is adding gravy, making German Schnitzel another favourite in European Cuisine.

Did you know... The German word for schnitzel (High German: snitzel) is a derivative of sniz, 'slice.'

Below is a list of food we have tried inside the Vancouver Christmas Market.

Baklava and Turkish Tea and Coffee from The Golden Horn Turkish Bakery and Cafe

Happy Sunday morning! My husband and I planned to visit the Vancouver Christmas Market today. Unfortunately, we arrived an hour early before they opened. While waiting, we walked around the Convention Center to look for a place to hang out and spotted The Golden Horn Turkish Bakery and Cafe, which sells Turkish Tea, Turkish Coffee, and assorted baklavas.

Assorted baklava, Turkish Coffee, and Turkish Tea from The Golden Horn Turkish Bakery and Cafe

We ordered one of each baklava available on display, one Turkish Tea for me and Turkish Coffee for my husband. This is the best baklava I've had. They're not overly sweet and, more importantly, not stale.

Left: Pistachio Baklava
Right: Coconut Almond Baklava

I prefer the walnut and pistachio (which I am calling 'The Classic' 😅), and I'd gladly order both again.

Walnut Baklava and Midye Baklava (Hazelnut & Chocolate Truffle)

Meanwhile, if you want a baklava with a surprise in the middle, order the Midye Baklava.

Left: Chocolate Baklava
Right: Hazelnut Baklava

You can skip the chocolate baklava unless you're unfamiliar with baklava. It's a great introduction to the textures of the dessert but with a ubiquitous chocolate flavour.

Kadaif (Pistachio)

If you want all the baklava flavour but with a crunchy and chewy texture, go for the bigger size kadaif.

Turkish Coffee

Hubby is pleased to try Turkish Coffee from a different country, and the serving cup is beautifully designed. I enjoyed my Turkish Tea as well.

Turkish Tea

Please drop by and order a box of assorted baklavas if you're in the area. They're fantastic as gifts too.

Chicken BLT McMuffin from McDonald's

Happy Sunday morning! Breaking from our breakfast routine, we went to McDonald's to try the relatively new Chicken BLT McMuffin. I also ordered the Chicken McGriddle and a couple hash browns.

I love the Chicken BLT McMuffin. The chicken was dry, but the bacon, tomato, lettuce, and whatever sauce they used worked well.

Chicken BLT McMuffin from McDonald's Canada

I also forgot how good the hash browns are from McDonald's compared to Tim's. 😱 It's not dry and stale!

The McGriddle has always been my favourite because the "buns" is sweet compared to the savoury meat. But, unfortunately, the chicken is also dry, and there's no sauce.

Chicken McGriddle

I'll be happy to order the Chicken BLT McMuffin again alongside a hash brown when I come back to McDonald's.

Wendy's Canada offers Fired Up Chicken Sandwich

Wendy's Canada offered the Fired Up Chicken Sandwich starting last month, and we finally tried it today.

Fired Up Chicken Sandwich from Wendy's Canada
Get fired up with a juicy, all-white meat chicken breast marinated and breaded in our unique, fiery blend of peppers and spices topped with jalapeños, a jalapeños cheese slice, and sriracha cheese sauce. Finished with crispy onion tanglers and mayo - all on a premium bun.

I have tried all the Spicy McChicken® from McDonald's Canada, and nothing is as spicy as the Fired Up Chicken Sandwich we had today. The sauce was spicy, and the slices of jalapenos pushed it to the edge. I love it! The bread and chicken were dry, but the spiciness was on point.

Other than the sandwich, we ordered Chili and Bacon Cheese Potato.

Chili from Wendy's
The only hearty chili made with our hot n' juicy beef. Perfectly seasoned and positively irresistible. It's the one you've been waiting for.

Bacon Cheddar Cheese Sauce Baked Potato from Wendy's
A hot, fluffy potato topped with rich, creamy cheese sauce and crisp bacon strips. Because nothing goes with a potato-like cheese and bacon.

I loved Wendy's Chili, and it's better than what Tim Hortons has to offer. I also created a food hack of covering the Baked Potato with Chili.

I'll happily eat another Fired Up Chicken Sandwich from Wendy's Canada. Then, I'll continue trying Wendy's sides menu because the Chili and Baked Potato were excellent!
